What Extraordinary Power Is Revealed When the Mind Becomes Still? | மனம் அமைதியடையும்போது வெளிப்படும் அசாதாரண பேராற்றல் என்ன?
from Santhosam Podcast: Guiding Light of Spiritual Wisdom · host Santhosam
In the 26th Velvi Discourse (2015), Gurumahan Reveals What Lies Beyond the Breath, Mind and Senses. We begin by bringing both hands together and sitting in a completely relaxed posture. Keep your back and neck straight, and gently close your eyes. For about thirty seconds, simply observe your breath. Breathe naturally through your nose. Let the breath flow in gently through the nostrils and flow out naturally. Do not try to inhale or exhale deliberately. Just observe the breath as it moves on its own. Gently close your eyes and bring your attention to the centre of your eyebrows. Observe the movement of the breath there. Nothing else is needed. Do not pull the breath in, and do not push it out. The breath is happening by itself. Simply observe it. Let it happen naturally and comfortably. That breath is the movement of your life force. Your life force itself is moving, and that movement appears as the breath. When the mind moves, the breath moves. When the mind becomes still, the breath also becomes still. The moment the mind becomes quiet, the breath naturally settles. The mind is the root cause of all our problems. If you can calm and master the mind, you can find a solution to every problem. Therefore, if an individual wants peace, prosperity, physical health, mental well-being, clarity of intellect and spiritual evolution, there is one path. It goes beyond mantras. It is the path of becoming one with the universe. O mind, observe only the breath. As you observe the breath, the breath becomes still. As the breath settles into the life force, the mind merges with that life force. That life force is the very essence that has evolved into everything in this Universe. That same life essence exists as the subtlest element in space, as air when it moves, as heat when it becomes active, as water when it condenses, and ultimately as solid matter. This essence exists as everything. Knowing this Meiporul, the Ultimate Reality, is true knowledge. O mind, you have learned about everything through the senses. But you have not yet discovered the one who is within you, beyond the senses. If you know yourself, there is nothing in this world that you cannot accomplish. There is a way to know yourself. Turn your attention inward through the centre between the eyebrows. Go beyond the body. Go beyond the senses. Go beyond the mind. Go beyond the prana, the vital force, and reach the state of the life force itself. This life force is pure consciousness. At the centre between the eyebrows, you are no longer merely the body. You are not limited by physical existence. You are pure awareness. Whatever you think of in that state, you begin to become. Therefore, fill yourself with elevated thoughts. If you constantly think of yourself as inferior or remain trapped in negative thoughts, you will become identified with that state. You are divine. You are a pure soul. When you become established in this awareness at the centre between the eyebrows and then turn your attention towards the centre of the brain, between the two hemispheres, you return to a state you naturally possessed as a child. As a child, you were beyond deceit, manipulation and falsehood. You were naturally pure, sattvic and divine. Observe the breath. Keep observing it. As you observe, the breath settles. As the breath settles, you enter the state of silence. It is in that silence and stillness that an extraordinary power exists. The state beyond the body, beyond the mind and beyond the intellect is your true nature. In that state lies the extraordinary power to influence and transform your experience of the universe. Whatever you hold in your consciousness, you begin to become. You transcend the limitations of the five elements, rise beyond the physical body, and bring the waves of the mind into stillness. You transform your outer knowledge into inner wisdom. You can accomplish anything. Believe in yourself. You are a part of the Supreme Consciousness of the Universe. You are a divine expression. This divine essence exists within this body. Within the limited boundary of the body resides an unlimited power that is your true nature. Until you believe in yourself, you cannot accomplish what you are capable of accomplishing in this world. You have come here to accomplish something. Therefore, recognise your true essence. Within you is the creative aspect of Brahma, which creates; the sustaining aspect of Vishnu, which preserves; and the transformative aspect of Shiva, which brings about change. All three aspects are united within you. You are divine. That divine essence is infinite love. It is infinite knowledge. It is infinite bliss. It is infinite beauty. It is the incomparable, boundless state of existence. That is your true nature. You possess infinite potential. But because you identify yourself with the body, you have become trapped within its limitations. Spiritual liberation means freeing yourself from this bondage to the senses and the limitations of the world, and realising that you are truly free. When you attain this inner freedom, you begin to see everyone as one. Send us Fan Mail Let Wisdom Flourish! Let Peace Prevail! Let us protect Mother earth! Let us protect the Universe!
