Let's talk about what it actually means, and when it works.A Caloric deficit is where you eat less- but with a strategy behind it. To use this concept correctly, you must understand your BMR (basal metabolic rate). This is the number of energy (aka calories) needed to live, the baseline amount of energy for your body to exist and function per day. There are calculators to estimate this online through a simple Google search, but it won't be 100% exact, close enough though. You will want to consider the calories you are burning for any activity you do for the day (cleaning, walking, gym time, work, etc.), and the calories from your BMR to find the number of calories you need to get from food! When a strategic caloric deficit is introduced, your body can use stored fat (energy) to replace what you didn't eat that day. This is a process that shows results over time, and there may be other health factors at play.
