I just scroll and tell myself tomorrow will be the day.”I love this question because this it is such a familiar experience, especially in February which is the energetic equivalent of a Tuesday.You’re not lazy.You’re not unmotivated.You’re just stuck in that loop of knowing what to do… and not doing it. Which is one of the most frustrating feelings ever.Your brain loves the fantasy of changing your life.New routine. Glow up. Hot girl summer. New relationship. New job. New you. But then the second you actually have to take the action, it feels uncomfortable The gym feels annoying.Dating feels exhausting.Starting the business feels overwhelming.Raising your prices makes you want to throw up.And your nervous system is like “Wait. This doesn’t feel safe.”So instead of doing the thing, you go right back into the comforting little coping mechanism of:“I’ll start Monday.”“I’ll start next month.”“I’ll start when life calms down.”The worst part is it sounds like you’re being strategic. I am gonna be honest, never have I felt a podcast episode had so much cross over in the venn diagram of things I like to talk about. (You can check out the episode here: The Daily)The episode interviewed a couple whose relationship dynamic was totally turned upside down when one of them lost a significant amount of weight on Ozempic. Through out the years, I have had times where no matter what I did, or how hard I worked, I felt like I was spinning my wheels, and then I have had years (like this) where I was able to level up really easily, (despite massive chaos). The key difference in those times where I was able to accomplish what I wanted, wasn’t so much about how hard I worked, but more in how I laid the foundation for getting what I wanted. I was never someone who had a lot of willpower when it comes to food. It’s not that I didn’t want to be healthy or lose weight. I want it so badly, but in the moment, passing up food is so difficult for me. When my Dr. recommended I try Ozempic last year, I jumped on it. When I took it, it literally made me cry. I finally had willpower, the voices in my head that usually screamed at me to eat were gone . I have lost 60lbs and a part of me is so happy, but the other part of me is terrified. I know if I ever come off of this medication, the weight will just come back. My brain just doesn’t think about food in the same way that normal people do. Is there something wrong with me? Are there people out there like me who should be on this medication forever? This week I picked a nutrition/weight loss related question for a few reasons:1.This exact scenario played out more then once with my clients this week. I always say September is like mini new year, and everyone gets a little more serious about their health and weight loss goals so perfect time to bring it up and2. I have had this conversation around this problem hundreds of times, but this time, I put a little bit of a different spin on it that really resonated with one of my clients, so thought it would be great to share.   Dear Mish, I have been a chronic dieter most of my life, but I am at the point where I am SO disgusted with my weight. The only time I ever see the scale move is when I am being super restrictive. That means no eating out, no alcohol, no sugar, nothing. When I do this I see results, it is the only thing that actually works for me, but then I always end up gaining the weight back. I can’t be the only one who is struggling with this.   She isn’t! Now, for some fun and variety, at the end of this episode we did what I will call, until I come up with a more creative name, Rapid Fire Questions, where I answer your questions (rapidly) on a number of topics.     What Is A Calorie Deficit and is it Actually the Only Way to Lose Weight?

    Send us Fan MailCalorie Deficit has been a trending term used on Tiktok lately as the end all-be all for weight loss success. Let's talk about what it actually means, and when it works.A Caloric deficit is where you eat less- but with a strategy behind it. To use this concept correctly, you must understand your BMR (basal metabolic rate). This is the number of energy (aka calories) needed to live, the baseline amount of energy for your body to exist and function per day. There are calculators to estimate this online through a simple Google search, but it won't be 100% exact, close enough though.  You will want to consider the calories you are burning for any activity you do for the day (cleaning, walking, gym time, work, etc.), and the calories from your BMR to find the number of calories you need to get from food! When a strategic caloric deficit is introduced, your body can use stored fat (energy) to replace what you didn't eat that day. This is a process that shows results over time, and there may be other health factors at play.     Why We need to Stop Trying To Lose Weight

We are bringing on some amazing guests and getting some life changing information and resources for you. Today, to start off Season 2, I wanted to share something that I am very passionate about that I believe that we all need to understand on a deeper level. Especially for someone that has struggled with being a chronic dieter or losing weight. Until we move past the mindset and relationship with food problem, it will always be somewhat of a struggle. Any diet we go on is not fixing the underlying problem of mindset and our relationship with food overall.Addressing the actual problem that is holding us back from those weight loss and health goals is the answer! Two issues to address with the weight loss/ diet culture: Let's be honest, if the commercialized diets actually resulted in weight loss and weight kept off, they would lose you as a customer. So then you become stuck in that dieting cycle. We are so focused on weight loss specifically as a goal. To see that number come off quickly, and most of the time when you see the number decline quickly, it is not a long term solution. Because we are never focused on the process, instead we are focused on the results, and that is not okay. I want to change your mind on this to get you on the path to no longer struggling. Instead of losing weight, we are going to focus on improving our eating habits.To do this we focus on designing your Individual Eating Philosophy and learning to use the number on the scale in a healthy way.
