What is Homesteading and Living Off-Grid with Holistic Healer and Business Owner Lisa Kaiser
from Reawaken Your Health Podcast · host Dr. Amy Novotny
Did you get the urge to grow your own food when you saw the grocery shelves empty as the pandemic broke out? Do you want to learn to be more self-sustaining? For this week’s episode of the Weekend Wellness Hour show, holistic healer and business owner Lisa Kaiser joined us to discuss her decision to live off grid and get into homesteading. She and her family started Pinedora Farms in 2016 in the White Mountains of Arizona and now sell produce to local farmer's markets. We discussed the most important factor when beginning to homestead: determining a water source. She shared some stories to help those who are considering buying land to start this endeavor. Lisa explained various aspects of homesteading such as deciding what to include to live sustainably, including building greenhouses and how to design the interior. We discussed the importance of soil quality and fertilizer using the droppings of animals living free range on the farm. We touched on how to control some pests and the need to be creative without compromising your produce. She mentioned a couple ways to plant different flowers near the produce garden to ward off various insects. Lisa is also a Holistic Healthcare Practitioner who focuses on the subtle energies that everything emits to heal others. She and her family are developing the Pinedora Farms into an educational and wellness retreat facility as well. Please join us to learn about homesteading and some steps to consider before taking that journey!
