What is limerance, and how can Hypno-CBT help?

from The Hypno-CBT podcast with Arrive Therapy · host Arrive Therapy

What is limerance, and how can Hypno-CBT help? Limerence is an intense, sometimes obsessive state whereby a person becomes obsessively preoccupied with another individual, often accompanied by an overwhelming desire for reciprocation. It involves heightened thoughts, some idealisation of the person, and  is linked to anxious ambivalent attachment style, in my opinion. People in limerence may feel a strong need for signs of affection or reciprocation. This can lead to distorted perceptions of reality. While limerence often involves romantic attraction, it differs from love. I also explore some ways in which Hypno-CBT could be used to help someone in limerence, eg cognitive reframing, visualisation, rehearsal of coping skills, mindfulness etc. Visit https://www.arrivetherapy.co.uk for more info.
