Dr. Thea Yurkewecz is an assistant professor and program chair of the reading and literacy committee from the State University of New York at Geneseo . She is a national board-certified teacher, literacy specialist, teacher educator, and past-president of the New York State Reading Association.  Her international work includes coordinating a student teaching abroad program in Bangkok, Thailand, and facilitating professional development to educators in Beijing, China. She continues to focus her research on supporting specialized literacy professionals and preparing future literacy leaders. Keith Newvine is a Literacy PhD Candidate at Syracuse University, an 18-year high school English teacher, co-founder of the Central New York Social Justice League, and Vice President of the New York State Reading Association. His research focuses on centering contemporary young adult literature written by and about BIPOC in suburban English Language Arts classrooms to demystify discourses of whiteness.
