Send a textSo, you want to be a firearms instructor? In this episode of the Green Ops Podcast Luke talked with Hunter Freeland about his journey to becoming an instructor. He discusses the amount of time someone needs to put into the firearm to not only master the skill of shooting but also master the skill of communicating with the student.   Hunter started his shooting career in 2009 upon enlistment as a 19D into the Louisiana Army NG. While shooting for the Louisiana Combat Shooting Team, Hunter earned the Governor’s Twenty Tab and other EIC honors. During his enlistment, Hunter took advantage of every opportunity for schools and training destinations.After leaving the military in 2016, Hunter worked for Triple Canopy as a security contractor in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon returning home, Hunter was commissioned with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office where he aided in narcotics, investigative and SRT duties.Hunter has trained with some of the leading instructors in the industry from Bill Blowers, Jared Reston, Scott Jedlinski, Aaron Cowan and many others amassing over 800+ hours of end user training over the past several years. He also holds instructor ratings in multiple categories ranging from LE Handgun, NRA Pistol to less lethal options like INIWIC and JPX.Hunters continues to train with outside instructors and participate in competitive shooting events from USPSA to Steel Challenge and Multi Gun.Hunter’s focus is on providing the best up to date training to allow for clean efficient growth of understanding and technique to the individual shooter.
