What makes Texas the GOP's ATM?; Previewing Day 1 of the Republican mid-term convention

The GOP's first-ever midterm convention gets underway in Dallas today. To many, the RNC choosing Texas for this convention makes sense. We’re home to one of the year’s most-watched U.S. Senate races. And, arguably as important, Texas is a top source for GOP campaign cash. The Texas Newsroom’s Blaise Gainey reports on what makes the state such a Republican fundraising powerhouse, and what motivates the party’s donors, both large and small. And NPR political reporter Stephen Fowler joins us to talk through what he'll be watching out for on Day 1.
