What Memorial Will You Leave Your Children?

In the book of Joshua, God instructed the Israelites to set up twelve stones after crossing the Jordan River. The stones served as a memorial so that when future generations asked about them, parents could explain how the Lord had brought His people safely through the waters (Joshua 4:1–9).In this episode of Proclamation Station, we reflect on the memorials we are leaving for our own children. The Bible teaches that faith should be passed from one generation to the next, as “one generation commends your works to another” and tells of the mighty things God has done (Psalm 145:4).What stories of God’s faithfulness are we preserving for our families? Our testimonies, our example, and our willingness to speak about God’s goodness can become the memorial stones that guide our children toward Him.Scripture reminds us of the responsibility we carry to teach the next generation and to “start children off on the way they should go” (Proverbs 22:6). The legacy we leave behind—our faith, our words, and our example—may become the very guideposts that point them toward Christ.Tomorrow is not promised.
