We are in the last two weeks of a federal election in Canada and it 's very close, if you believe the polls. Each candidate has their own ideas about what to do with the CBC. Carney wants to lavish the state broadcaster with billions in tax money and I'll explain why. Poilievre want's to pull their tax funding and let them fend for themselves to compete with other media entities around the world.I offer a third idea: let's get the CBC out of news and politics completely and into arts and culture exclusively. Carve out a small section of the CBC into a replacement for the Voice of America, to fill that vacuum. We could use this voice of Canada to represent Canadian democracy, culture and ideas to the world, to market Canadian businesses and products to the world.
