What You Need to Know When a Hospice Patient is in Crisis, Heartbeat, Episode 120

from The Heart of Hospice Podcast · host Helen Bauer & Jerry Fenter

When a hospice patient's symptoms are becoming difficult to manage, hospice can assist by providing higher levels of care during a crisis.  Helen and Jerry discuss the two levels of care that can be provided on a short term basis to help when a patient needs more assistance. General inpatient (GIP) is provided at a medical facility such as a hospital or hospice inpatient unit.  Continuous care, or crisis care, can be provided at the patient's residence by hospice staff.  Listen to this episode to learn more about when a higher level of care can be offered, and what services to expect.  For more information, visit our website at www.theheartofhospice.com, or write to us at [email protected] if you have a question or a comment.  You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.  Just search for The Heart of Hospice.
