What's Draining Your Battery?🔋

from Lifestyle Business School · host Stevie Dillon

Let's talk about the difference between the amount of TIME you spend on something, and the amount of ENERGETIC capacity it takes up. It's only recently that I have started to realise that there is a very big difference between the two, and have started optimising for energetic alignment as much as time. My Original Personal Effectiveness Process - Time OptimisationEvery 90 days, I have ALWAYS completed a time audit. It's incredibly helpful for identifying where my time goes, and to optimise it to start using it better. Here's the three step process I have traditionally completed: Step One: Analyse my time. Every 90 days, I would audit every minute of my work time. Step Two: Audit my time. Once I had a list of everything I completed in a week, I would categorise them into departments and groups of tasks to get a snapshot of where I was spending my time. Step Three: Action. Finally, I would review the list and decide what delete (stop doing altogether), delegate (give to someone else or a tool to complete) or decrease (use Parkinson's Law to allocate less time to get it done). By consistently completing this process, I was able to optimise my time to the point that I was completing ONLY the tasks I needed to, and was able to optimise the amount of time I spent doing those things, too. The catch? Realising that doing so was important and necessary, but that I was also missing one big and important step. The Missing Step Four: Reviewing What's Left in Terms of Energetic Alignment. Here's what I realised. That there is a big difference between the amount of time you spend on something, and the "energetic capacity" that same task could take up.And that by NOT reviewing my task list in terms of energetic alignment, I was able to drastically reduce the AMOUNT of time I was spending doing certain things, but not the energetic capacity I had left at the end of the day. Because, whilst the tasks remaining on my plate didn't take huge TIME, they did take a lot from me. If you're a personal effectiveness aficionado like me? I highly recommend listening to today's episode. Optimising for energetic alignment just as much as time  might be the missing link for you, too. Want more?
