What’s Hiding in Your Deodorant? The Hormone Disruptor You Use Daily

from PCOS Unfiltered: Nourish, Heal, Thrive · host Lindsie Vizethann

I’ll walk you through:Why your armpits matter in your hormone healing journeyWhat happens when you block your sweat glandsThe connection between deodorant, your lymphatic system, and PCOSMy own story of ditching prescription-strength antiperspirant (yes, it was gross at first)How to switch to natural—or go completely deodorant free—and thriveThis isn’t just about hygiene. It’s about detox, trust, and working with your body—not against it.An armpit detox using clay, like bentonite clay, is a popular method to help with the transition from antiperspirant to natural deodorant. You can mix 1 tablespoon of the clay with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar along with 1-2 tablespoons of water or coconut oil to make a paste using a glass or wooden spoon and bowl. Do not use metal as it can interfere with the beneficial properties of the clay.  Spread over the armpits and wait for 5-20 minutes.  Wash with warm water, preferably in the shower.  A few things to note, while some may find this mask soothing and helpful in pulling out impurities and reducing odor and sweating during the transition, others may not find any benefit at all.  Also be sure to test a small area first as the apple cider vinegar can cause skin irritation in some people.  Remember that ultimately the liver, gut, and kidneys are what truly need to be supported during the detox process, not just the skin.  My favorite clean deodorant is Beautycounter, now counter.comOr go to ewg.org and search deodorant for even more options for clean deodorants. 📘 Healing Beyond the Diagnosis: Rewrite Your PCOS Story to Finally Reclaim Your HealthIf you’re tired of chasing symptoms, starting over, and feeling disconnected from your body, this book was written for you.In Healing Beyond the Diagnosis, Lindsie guides you beyond labels and quick fixes and into a deeper understanding of what your symptoms are actually communicating.
