When attending Mass is not Routine but an Encounter with Jesus

Fr. Simon Tan shared a deeply personal testimony about discovering the true meaning of the Eucharist. Though he served as an altar boy since Primary 6, he admitted he “served Mass, but hardly participated.” Everything changed in Secondary 2 when, feeling lost and restless, he wandered into Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary after school and honestly asked Jesus: “Are You truly God?”What seemed like a two-hour sleep in church became a life-changing encounter with God’s peace. From that day, Scripture became alive, Mass became meaningful, and worship became personal. Fr. Simon reminds us that the Eucharist is not just an obligation but an encounter with the living God. Even in pain, confusion, or struggles, we can still come before God honestly: “Lord, I am hurting, but I still want to worship You.” When we open our hearts, healing, peace, and transformation can happen through the Eucharist.- Sunday Homily by Fr.
