When Does the Mind Remain Still and Calm? | மனம் எப்போது அமைதியாக நிலைத்திருக்கிறது?

from Santhosam Podcast: Guiding Light of Spiritual Wisdom · host Santhosam

How does one truly remain still? It is not just the stillness of the limbs. True stillness is when the inner faculties — mind, intellect, memory, and ego — are surpassed, and one rests in clarity within the core of pure consciousnessThis is what is meant when it is said that the ‘Shivalingam is revealed within the siddham (pure consciousness).’ But our minds remain disturbed because we are attached to perishable objects. Everything that arises in this world is destined to disappear. So when we form attachments to these impermanent things, the mind becomes agitated by the processes of their growth, decay, and disappearance. Though the world around us is ever-changing and perishable, there exists one unchanging reality — the eternal. Just as gold remains the same whether it is shaped into a necklace, a bangle, or a waist chain, the essence does not change even though the form and name do. Likewise, the Atma, the true Self, is eternal and unchanging. The mind remains undisturbed when its attachment is placed on that which is eternal and imperishable. At present, it is restless because we cling to transient things that come and go. As these change — whether they grow or diminish — the mind is thrown into agitation. But when the mind is anchored in the eternal, the unchanging truth, it neither wavers nor hesitates; it rests in calm clarity. That is why it is said: begin by having faith in yourself. But to develop that faith, first trust the words and guidance of the wise. The Vedas say the words of realized beings are divine. And those who have true faith are never abandoned.Send us Fan MailLet Wisdom Flourish!Let Peace Prevail! Let us protect Mother earth!Let us protect the Universe!
