📖 Truth Tuesday — When Fear Starts TalkingHave you ever become so worried about what might happen that you started living as though it will happen?David did.After years of running from Saul, 1 Samuel 27 begins with these words:“Then David said to himself...”And David decided and told himself: “Now I will perish one day by the hand of Saul.”But here's the question:Who told David that?God didn't.David had seen God's faithfulness. He knew God's promise. But in a tired and fearful moment, David allowed something he feared might happen to become something he believed would happen.💭 Today's TruthFear speaks in possibilities as though they were promises.Fear says:This isn't going to work out.You're not going to make it.Everything is going to fall apart.But before you build your decisions around what fear is telling you, ask:Did God actually say that?David eventually reaches a very different place.Instead of merely “David said to himself,” Scripture tells us:“But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”— 1 Samuel 30:6And then:“David inquired of the LORD...”— 1 Samuel 30:8What a difference.David moves from listening to what fear predicts...to asking what God says.Jesus gives us the same direction when worry carries us into tomorrow:“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself.”— Matthew 6:34And just before that, Jesus reminds us why:Our heavenly Father knows what we need.Once again, it comes back to God's character.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, help me recognize when fear is telling me a story about tomorrow that You have never told me. When my thoughts run toward the worst possible outcome, bring me back to what I KNOW about YOU! You are faithful. You know what I need. Help me seek Your voice instead of simply listening to my fears. Teach me to trust You with tomorrow while faithfully walking with You today.
