📖 FAITHFUL FRIDAY — NOW WHAT?Earlier this week, we met Naaman in 2 Kings 5.He began with:“I thought…”Then he obeyed:“according to the word of the man of God.”And after God healed him, Naaman returned to Elisha and said:“Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the world, but in Israel…” — 2 Kings 5:15But that raises an important question:What do you do with what you now know?Naaman was about to go home—to the same country, the same responsibilities, and the same complicated environment. And before he even left, he was already thinking about how what he had learned about God should change the way he lived.The miracle happened at the Jordan. The opportunity for faithfulness was waiting back in Damascus.We aren't told the rest of Naaman's story. But centuries later, Jesus Himself pointed people back to Naaman in Luke 4:27 as an unexpected recipient of God's grace.💭 Today’s TruthWhat God shows us about Himself should change the way we live afterward.We don't want to simply collect biblical truth.We want to walk in it.The devotion ends.The Bible study ends.The sermon ends.But then we go back home. Back to work. Back to school. Back to our families. Back into ordinary life.And that's where faithfulness matters.So here's a question to carry with you:What has God shown me that I need to live differently because I know it?Don't just say:“Now I know.”Ask:“Lord, now how do I live?”Because what happens next is where faithfulness begins.🙏 Today’s PrayerFather, thank You for what You have shown me about Yourself through Your Word. Don't let me simply hear truth and move on. Help me live differently because of what I know about You. Show me what faithfulness looks like in the ordinary places I will walk today, and give me the courage to obey You there. 📖 THANKFUL THURSDAY — FULLY KNOWNHere’s something I’m thankful for today:God knows me.Psalm 139 begins with David saying:“O LORD, You have searched me and known me.” — Psalm 139:1God knows when we sit down and when we rise. He knows our thoughts. He knows our paths. David says He is “intimately acquainted with all my ways.”God doesn’t merely know about you.  God knows you.And David’s response is beautiful:“Such knowledge is too wonderful for me…” — Psalm 139:6But there’s a discovery at the end of the Psalm that I love.David begins Psalm 139 by saying:“You have searched me and known me.”Then he ends by praying:“Search me, O God, and know my heart…” — Psalm 139:23Wait a minute.God has already searched him. God already knows him!David isn’t asking God to discover something He doesn’t know. He’s inviting the God who already knows him to deal honestly with what He sees.💭 Today’s TruthMaybe that’s part of what it means to abide in the presence of an all-knowing God:We stop hiding and start inviting.“God, You already know me. Search me. Show me what You see. And lead me.”And because of Jesus, we don’t have to be afraid to do that.Hebrews 4 tells us that nothing is hidden from God’s sight. Yet because Jesus is our great High Priest, Hebrews 4:16 says: “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace…”Think about that:Nothing hidden—and still invited near.That’s something worth being thankful for!You don’t have to fight to be noticed by God. You don’t have to explain yourself perfectly before He understands you. And you don’t have to pretend before Him.You are completely known by God and never overlooked by God.🙏 Today’s PrayerFather, thank You for knowing me completely. You know my thoughts, my fears, my failures, my motives, and every part of my heart. Thank You that because of Jesus, I don’t have to hide from You. Give me the courage to invite You into every part of my life. Search me, show me anything that needs to change, and lead me in Your everlasting way. Help me draw near and learn what it means to abide in Your presence. 📖 WISDOM WEDNESDAY — DON’T MISTAKE QUIET FOR ABSENTOne chapter can make quite a difference.In 1 Kings 18, Elijah watched God answer by fire.“Then the fire of the LORD fell…” — 1 Kings 18:38It was dramatic. Unmistakable.God was in the fire.But turn one chapter.Elijah is now exhausted, afraid, and discouraged. At Horeb, a powerful wind comes. Then an earthquake. Then fire.But 1 Kings 19:12 says:“…the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing.”Did you catch that?Same Elijah. Same God. Different moment.Sometimes we take something God has genuinely done in the past and turn it into an expectation for what He must do again.We remember the big answer.The open door.The mountaintop experience.Those moments are wonderful. Remember them! Thank God for them!But don’t turn yesterday’s experience with God into a formula for how God must work today.💭 Today’s TruthDon’t mistake quiet for absent.Most of the Christian life doesn’t happen on Mount Carmel. It happens on ordinary Wednesdays.Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:7:“for we walk by faith, not by sight—”We don’t need constant visible evidence that God is working in order to keep trusting Him.Open His Word. Pray. Obey what He has made clear. Faithfully do the next thing He has placed in front of you.Quiet doesn’t mean absent. Ordinary doesn’t mean inactive.🙏 Today’s PrayerFather, thank You that Your faithfulness is not measured by how dramatic my circumstances appear. Forgive me when I expect You to work today exactly as I have seen You work before. Help me walk by faith rather than depending on what I can see or feel. Keep me anchored in Your Word, faithful in the ordinary, and willing to obey what You have made clear. Help me trust that You are still God even in the quiet. 📖 TRUTH TUESDAY — “I THOUGHT…”Have you ever looked at something happening in your life and thought:“Well…that’s not how I thought this was going to go.”Naaman certainly did.He came to Elisha believing God could heal his leprosy. But when Elisha told him to wash seven times in the Jordan River, Naaman became angry.Why?Because Naaman didn’t just have a request.He had a script.In 2 Kings 5:11, Naaman actually says:“Behold, I thought…”He had already imagined how God ought to work.And sometimes we do the same thing.I thought God would answer differently.I thought that door would open.I thought this season would be easier.I thought my life would look different by now.But something changes in Naaman. In verse 14, instead of acting according to what he thought, he goes down into the Jordan “according to the word of the man of God.”That’s the turn:“I thought…” becomes “according to the word…”💭 Today’s TruthFaith doesn’t require God to follow my script. Faith trusts God when He doesn’t.And there’s one more beautiful piece.After Naaman is healed, he returns to Elisha and says in verse 15:“Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel…”“I thought…”became“according to the word…”and eventually became“Now I know…”Naaman came looking for healing.He left knowing God.That doesn’t mean laying down our expectations guarantees God will give us what we wanted another way. Sometimes He changes our circumstances. Sometimes He doesn’t.But the greatest thing God could ever give us isn’t the life we’ve scripted.The greatest thing God gives us is Himself.🙏 Today’s PrayerFather, I confess that sometimes I come to You with more than a request—I come with my own script for how I think You should answer. Help me hold my expectations with an open hand. When Your ways are different from what I expected, keep me anchored to what You have said in Your Word. Teach me to trust You even when I don’t understand what You are doing. More than getting the outcome I want, I want to know You and experience your presence and walk faithfully with You. 🇺🇸 MOTIVATION MONDAY — WORK WASN’T THE CURSEHappy Labor Day, friends!We celebrate Labor Day by…trying our best not to labor. 😂 But here’s something interesting: if you think work entered the world because of sin, you’re one chapter too late.📖 Genesis 2:15 tells us that before the Fall, before the curse, and before there were any thorns or thistles, God placed Adam in the garden “to cultivate it and keep it.”Work wasn’t the curse. The curse made work painful.God created us with purpose—to cultivate, create, care for, serve, accomplish, and contribute.And there’s a beautiful glimpse of this at the other end of the Bible. Revelation 22:3 tells us that when the curse is finally gone, God’s servants will still serve Him.We don’t need to speculate about exactly what that will look like. Scripture gives us enough:The curse disappears. Purpose doesn’t.💭 Today’s TruthYour ordinary work matters to God when it is faithfully done for Him.That’s why Colossians 3:23 tells us:“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.”Whether your work happens in an office, a classroom, a factory, a truck, a kitchen, a hospital, your own business, or at home caring for the people God has entrusted to you—your work doesn’t have to look “spiritual” to matter to God.So enjoy Labor Day! Rest. Spend some time with family. Maybe eat something good off the grill. 😂And when you return to the ordinary work God has placed in front of you, do it faithfully. Do it heartily. Do it for Him.🙏 Today’s PrayerFather, thank You for creating me with purpose. Help me see the work You have placed before me as an opportunity to honor You. When my work is frustrating or tiring, remind me that the frustration is not the whole story. Give me strength to be faithful in the ordinary things You have entrusted to me. Whatever I do today, help me do it heartily and for You. 📖 Faithful Friday — He Goes AheadWe were in John 10 just last week, but I came back to the passage and noticed another little phrase I had walked right past.Jesus says of the shepherd:“…he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.”— John 10:4Don't miss those words:“He goes ahead of them.”The Shepherd doesn't stand behind the sheep shouting directions.He leads from the front.And maybe you need that reminder today.You may not know what next month holds.You may not understand where the road you're walking is going.You may be asking God to show you how everything is going to work out.Psalm 23 reminds us:“He guides me in the paths of righteousness…”And even when that path goes through the valley, David's confidence is NOT: I understand this road.It's: “You are with me.”I love this picture:The sheep doesn't get a map.The sheep gets a Shepherd.💭 Today's TruthYou don't have to know where the road leads when you know the Shepherd who leads you.Proverbs 3:5–6 tells us:“Trust in the LORD with all your heartAnd do not lean on your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge Him,And He will make your paths straight.”Following Jesus doesn't mean we never make plans.It means our plans remain surrendered to the Shepherd.We plan.We pray.We use wisdom.But underneath it all is a simple posture:“Jesus, You lead. I'll follow.”🙏 Today's PrayerLord Jesus, thank You for being my Shepherd. Thank You that I don't have to know everything that lies ahead because You are leading me. Forgive me for the times I have trusted my own understanding more than I have trusted You. Help me listen to Your voice through Your Word, stay close to You, and faithfully follow the next step You place before me. When the road is uncertain, remind me that You are with me. Jesus, You lead. I'll follow. In Your name, Amen.Maybe today the question isn't:“Lord, will You show me the whole road?”Maybe it's simply:“Am I staying close to the Shepherd?”You don't need the whole map.Stay close. 📖 Thankful Thursday — Rest a WhileSometimes you're tired because you've made poor choices.But sometimes...you're tired because you've been faithfully doing a lot of good things.In Mark 6, the disciples returned to Jesus after He had sent them out to minister. They had been serving, helping people, and doing exactly what Jesus had called them to do.And in verse 31, Jesus looked at these tired disciples and said:“Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.”Jesus noticed their weariness.And I'm thankful for what that shows us about His heart:💭 Today's TruthJesus doesn't confuse our limitations with unfaithfulness.Maybe you're tired today too.Maybe it's work.Family.School.Caring for someone you love.Serving others.Or maybe life has simply required a lot from you lately.Here's something I'm having to learn myself:Rest isn't the opposite of faithfulness. Sometimes rest is part of faithfulness.And sometimes following Jesus even means saying no to good things.Every need doesn't automatically become my assignment.Every opportunity doesn't require my yes.Sometimes Jesus says, “Go.”Sometimes He says, “Serve.”And sometimes He says:“Come away...and rest a while.”Jesus gives us another beautiful invitation in Matthew 11:28: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”Notice where true rest leads:“Come to ME.”🙏 Today's PrayerLord Jesus, thank You for knowing my limitations and noticing when I am weary. Give me wisdom to know what You are asking me to carry and what I need to release. Help me say yes faithfully when You call me to serve and give me the courage to say no—even to good things—when they are not my assignment. Teach me to rest without guilt and to remember that true rest is found by drawing near to You. 📖 Wisdom Wednesday — Tell What Jesus Has DoneHave you ever thought:“I'd talk about Jesus more if I just knew more?”In Mark 5, Jesus completely transforms the life of a man who had been living among the tombs under terrible demonic oppression.By verse 15, the man who had been tormented is:“sitting down, clothed and in his right mind.”Jesus had changed everything.But here's what amazes me.This man hadn't studied theology.He hadn't spent years following Jesus.He had known Jesus for...well, maybe Five More Minutes!  :-)And when he asks to go with Jesus, Jesus gives him another assignment:“Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.” — Mark 5:19Jesus didn't tell him to go explain everything.He told him to go tell what God had done for him.💭 Today's TruthYou don't have to know everything about Jesus to tell somebody what Jesus has done for you.And that's incredibly freeing.What if somebody asks you a question you can't answer?It's okay to say: “I don't know the answer to that. But I can tell you what Jesus has done for me.”Psalm 66:16 says:“Come and hear, all who fear God,And I will tell of what He has done for my soul.”Your testimony doesn't have to be dramatic.It doesn't have to impress anybody.Because you're not the hero of your testimony. Jesus is.If He has saved you, forgiven you, carried you, given you hope, shown you mercy...you have something to tell.🙏 Today's PrayerLord Jesus, thank You for what You have done in my life. Thank You for Your mercy, Your grace, and the salvation You have given me. Help me never believe that I need to know everything before I can tell someone about You. Give me an opportunity to share what You have done for me, and help me keep the focus of my story on You.  📖 Truth Tuesday — But First...Have you ever noticed how easy it is to intend to obey God...later?In Luke 9, Jesus encounters three people who talk about following Him.One says:“I will follow You, Lord; but first...” — Luke 9:61Those two words are worth noticing:“But first...”None of these people simply says, “No, I won't follow.”The problem is that following Jesus keeps getting pushed behind something else.And we can do the same thing.I'll forgive...later.I'll deal with that sin...later.I'll have that conversation...later.I'll get serious about spending time with God when life slows down.Sometimes “later” sounds a lot more spiritual than “no.”But James 4:17 gives us a direct reminder:“Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.”The issue isn't always that we don't know what God wants us to do.Sometimes...we know. We just haven't done it.💭 Today's TruthDelayed obedience has a way of becoming disobedience.Maybe you're waiting for God to show you the next ten steps when He's already made today's step clear.You don't need tomorrow's instructions to obey today's.So here's the question:What have I been postponing that Jesus has already made clear?🙏 Today's PrayerLord Jesus, thank You for Your patience with me. Show me where I have been postponing something You have already made clear. Forgive me for the times I have postponed to later when I really needed to obey in the moment. Give me courage to take the step of faithfulness that is in front of me today. Help me follow You without waiting for perfect circumstances or complete understanding.  📖 Motivation Monday — Open HandsThe rich young ruler ran to Jesus.He knelt before Jesus.He asked Jesus about eternal life.And then Mark gives us a detail I don't want us to miss:“Looking at him, Jesus felt a love for him...” — Mark 10:21Jesus loved him.And because Jesus loved him, He challenged the very thing that had captured his heart.💭 Today's TruthJesus loves us too much to leave unchallenged the things that keep us from following Him wholeheartedly.For this man, it was his possessions.For us, it could be money, control, comfort, approval, a relationship, a dream—or simply our plans for how we think life should go.The question isn't just, “What do I have?”It's:“What am I holding so tightly that I would struggle if Jesus asked me to open my hand?”Because anything I cannot surrender to Jesus has begun competing with Jesus.And don't miss what Jesus offered this man:“Come, follow Me.”Jesus wasn't merely asking him to give something up.Jesus was offering him Himself.Sadly, verse 22 tells us the man walked away grieving. Scripture never tells us that he returned.He wanted what Jesus offered—but he wasn't willing to release what Jesus exposed.🙏 Today's PrayerLord Jesus, thank You for loving me enough to tell me the truth about my heart. Show me ANYTHING I am holding more tightly than I am holding onto You. Give me the faith to surrender whatever competes for my heart and to trust that nothing I could hold onto is worth more than knowing and following You. Help me live today with open hands. 📖 Faithful Friday — Stay CloseHave you ever been perfectly content with the life God has given you...until you started looking at somebody else’s?Peter did something remarkably similar.In John 21, Jesus has restored Peter after his failure. He gives Peter his assignment and says:“Follow Me!”And almost immediately Peter looks at John and asks:“Lord, and what about this man?”Peter! Really???Jesus’ answer is wonderfully direct:“If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!” — John 21:22💭 Today’s TruthFaithfulness isn’t keeping up with someone else. It’s following Jesus where He leads you.Comparison can quietly steal our joy.And social media certainly doesn’t make that any easier.In a few minutes we can see somebody else’s vacation, house, family, marriage, children, ministry, success or opportunities...and suddenly: Comparison can make you dissatisfied with a life you were thankful for five minutes ago.Before long, Peter’s question becomes ours:Lord, what about them?Why did they get that opportunity?Why does their life seem easier?Why did their prayer get answered differently?And Jesus lovingly brings our attention back:“What is that to you? You follow Me.”Somebody else’s story isn’t the measuring stick for your faithfulness.And don’t miss who receives that invitation.Peter had failed.Peter had denied Jesus.But Jesus restored him and said again:“Follow Me.”Maybe you’ve stumbled too.Receive His grace.Put your eyes back on Jesus.And keep following.🙏 Today’s PrayerLord Jesus, forgive me for the times I look sideways and compare my life with someone else’s. Thank You for the path You have given me and for Your grace when I stumble along the way. Help me celebrate what You are doing in others without allowing comparison to steal my joy. Keep my eyes fixed on You, and give me the faithfulness to follow wherever You lead. 📖 Thankful Thursday — He Knows His OwnThere is something wonderfully comforting in the words of Jesus:“I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me.”— John 10:14“I know My own.”Maybe it’s because I’ve watched Finding Nemo too many times, but I couldn’t help thinking about those seagulls: “Mine! Mine! Mine!” 😂Obviously, that’s not quite the picture Jesus had in mind!But there really is something precious about those words:“My own.”If you belong to Jesus, you aren't just another face in the crowd.The Good Shepherd knows you.He knows your name.He knows what makes you afraid.He knows where you're tired.He knows the questions you haven't said out loud.He knows your weaknesses.He even knows your failures.And He calls you His own.💭 Today's TruthThe Shepherd who knows everything about you still calls you His own.We've spent a lot of time lately talking about knowing God's heart.But today, turn that around:While you're learning His heart, He already knows yours.And Jesus doesn't merely say that He knows His sheep. He tells us how deeply He loves them:“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” — John 10:11The Shepherd who knows you completely...gave His life for you.That's the cross.You are fully known—and in Christ, deeply loved.So maybe on this Thankful Thursday, we don't need to make it complicated.Just spend a few moments saying:Jesus, thank You for knowing me.Thank You for knowing what I'm carrying.Thank You for knowing where I'm weak.Thank You for knowing what I need.Thank You for knowing my failures and still loving me.Thank You for calling me Your own.🙏 Today's PrayerLord Jesus, thank You that You know me completely. You know my fears, my questions, my weaknesses, my failures, and everything I carry today. Thank You that I don't have to hide from You or perfectly explain myself to You. Thank You for calling me Your own and for loving me enough to lay down Your life for me. Help me listen to Your voice, follow where You lead, and grow to know Your heart more each day. 📖 Wisdom Wednesday — Whatever He SaysSometimes we make following Jesus more complicated than it needs to be.We want to know:What’s the whole plan?Where is this going?What happens after this?How is God going to work everything out?But at the wedding in Cana, Mary gives the servants remarkably simple instructions:“Whatever He says to you, do it.” — John 2:5There was a problem.The wine had run out.Mary brought the need to Jesus...and left the solution with Jesus.Then Jesus told the servants to fill six large waterpots.And I love the little detail John gives us:“So they filled them up to the brim.”Jesus said fill them.They filled them to the brim.Then Jesus told them to draw some out and take it to the headwaiter.They didn't know how that was going to solve the problem.They didn't get an explanation.They simply obeyed.💭 Today’s TruthYou don’t have to understand everything Jesus is doing to obey what Jesus has said.Maybe today you're asking God to show you the next ten steps... when He's already made the next act of obedience clear.Maybe you need to forgive.Apologize.Tell the truth.Stop compromising.Serve.Pray.Love someone difficult.Sometimes we're asking God for more information when what we really need is obedience to the truth we already have.And here's one of my favorite details in the story.When the headwaiter tasted the wine, John tells us he didn't know where it had come from...“but the servants who had drawn the water knew.” — John 2:9They had walked obediently with Jesus along the way.The miracle ultimately wasn't about wine. John calls it a sign—something that revealed the glory of Jesus and caused His disciples to believe in Him.Once again, it brings us back to who Jesus is.🙏 Today’s PrayerLord Jesus, thank You that I don't have to understand everything You are doing in order to trust You. Show me where You have already made Your will clear but I have hesitated to obey. Give me the faith to take the next step without demanding to see the whole plan. Help me bring my needs to You, trust You with the solution, and faithfully do what You have said.  📖 Truth Tuesday — When You Have QuestionsCan you genuinely believe in Jesus...and still have questions?John the Baptist did.This is the man who pointed to Jesus and declared:“Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”— John 1:29But in Matthew 11, John is sitting in prison.He had faithfully obeyed God.He had boldly spoken the truth.And now, while hearing about the incredible things Jesus was doing for others, John sends this question: “Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?” — Matthew 11:3I love what John does.He takes his question to Jesus.And Jesus doesn't shame him for asking.Instead, He points John back to what God had already revealed in His Word.💭 Today's TruthWhen circumstances make you question what you know, go back to what God has said.Jesus doesn't explain John's prison.He doesn't promise John that he's getting out.He gives John something stronger than an explanation: Truth sturdy enough to stand on when the explanation doesn't come.Maybe you're carrying a question today.Bring the real question to Jesus.Faith isn't never having questions. Faith knows where to take them.And then return to what God has already revealed.God is good.God is faithful.God is compassionate.Jesus is Lord.Jesus died for our sins.Jesus rose from the grave.Jesus is coming again.Your circumstances may be confusing. God's truth hasn't changed.And there's one more beautiful detail.After John's messengers leave, Jesus tells the crowd: "...among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist!”— Matthew 11:11His questions didn't erase his faithfulness.Jesus wasn't ashamed of John for bringing Him a difficult question.Jesus can handle the questions you bring Him from dark places.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You that I don't have to hide my questions from You. When circumstances confuse me or Your ways don't match what I expected, help me bring my questions to You rather than allowing them to pull me away from You. When explanations don't come, anchor my heart in what You have already revealed in Your Word. Help me trust what I know to be true about You even when I don't understand what I see. 📖 Motivation Monday — When God Seems LateHave you ever prayed about something and wondered...Why hasn't God done something yet?Not because you doubt that He can.Sometimes that's what makes the waiting so difficult.You know He can.In John 11, Mary and Martha send word to Jesus that their brother Lazarus is sick.And then John tells us something remarkable:Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus...so He stayed where He was two more days.He loved them.And He waited.That challenges the way we sometimes interpret God's heart through His timing.💭 Today's TruthA delay you don't understand is not evidence that Jesus has stopped loving you.By the time Jesus arrives in Bethany, Lazarus has been dead four days.Martha tells Him:“Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”— John 11:21In other words:Jesus, I know what You could have done.I just don't understand why You didn't do it.But instead of explaining everything He was doing, Jesus pointed Martha back to who He is:“I am the resurrection and the life...” — John 11:25And then comes one of the most beautiful moments in the story.Jesus already knew Lazarus was dead.He knew why He had waited.He knew exactly what He was about to do.And still...“Jesus wept.” — John 11:35Think about that: Jesus wept at a grave He knew He was about to empty.Knowing the end of the story didn't make Jesus indifferent to the pain in the middle of it.The One who knows what comes next still cares about what hurts right now.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, sometimes I struggle when Your timing doesn't make sense to me. Help me not to interpret Your heart through what You haven't done yet. Thank You that Your love does not change while I wait and that You are not distant from my pain. When I cannot understand what You are doing, help me anchor my heart in who You are. Thank You that Jesus is the resurrection and the life, and that even in difficult circumstances I can have hope. 📖 Faithful Friday — Dig the DitchWhat do you do when you're trying to be faithful...but you can't see any results?In 2 Kings 3, three armies found themselves in a dry valley with no water.They needed God to do something they couldn't do for themselves.And God's instruction through Elisha was surprising:“Make this valley full of trenches.”In other words...Dig ditches.Then God promised: “You shall not see wind nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water...” 2 Kings 3:17No clouds.No wind.No rain.No visible evidence that anything was changing.Just dig.💭 Today's TruthFaithfulness isn't producing the outcome. Faithfulness is obeying God while trusting Him with the outcome.They couldn't produce the water.But they could faithfully do what God had told them to do.And there's something incredibly freeing about that.Sometimes we carry responsibility for outcomes God never gave us.You can share the gospel.You can't make someone believe.You can love someone faithfully.You can't control their response.You can pour God's truth into your children.You can't make their decisions for them.You can pray.You can serve.You can forgive.You can plant.You can water.You can dig the ditch.But only God can do what only God can do.Paul said:“I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.” 1 Corinthians 3:6So maybe the question today isn't:“Why haven't I seen the results yet?”Maybe it's:“Lord, what have You actually given me to do here?”Then be faithful with that.Obedience is our responsibility. Outcomes belong to God.🙏 Today's PrayerFather, thank You that You have never asked me to carry responsibilities that belong to You. Show me what faithfulness looks like in the places where I have become discouraged. Give me strength to obey what You have made clear, patience when I cannot see results, and faith to leave the outcome in Your hands. 📖 Thankful Thursday — Don’t Forget the LoavesHave you ever faced a new problem and suddenly forgotten all the ways God has been faithful before?The disciples did.In Mark 8, they get into a boat with Jesus and realize they've forgotten to bring enough bread.They have one loaf.And they start worrying about it.There's just one problem...These are the same disciples who recently watched Jesus feed thousands of people—twice!So Jesus begins asking them questions.How many baskets were left after the five thousand?Twelve.How many after the four thousand?Seven.Jesus makes them remember.He's reminding them what those miracles should have taught them about Him.💭 Today's TruthDon't let today's need make you forget yesterday's faithfulness.Remembering God's past faithfulness doesn't mean we know exactly what He's going to do next.It means we know more about the God we're trusting because of what we've already seen.Maybe that's what gratitude needs to look like today.Think of something God has done in your life.A prayer He answered.A season He carried you through.A provision you didn't see coming.A closed door you later understood.Grace that met you when you failed.Thank Him for it.But then go one step deeper:What did that experience teach you about God?Maybe you discovered His faithfulness.His compassion.His wisdom.His patience.His presence.His grace.Don't just remember the gift. Remember what the gift taught you about the Giver.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You for the ways You have already been faithful in my life. Forgive me for how quickly today's problems can make me forget yesterday's grace. Help me remember not only what You have done, but what Your faithfulness has taught me about who You are. 📖 Wisdom Wednesday — The Next Faithful StepHave you ever wished God would just show you the whole plan?Where is this going?What am I supposed to do next?How is all of this going to work out?In Acts 16, Paul and his companions were genuinely trying to serve God.They planned to preach the gospel in Asia...but the Holy Spirit stopped them.They tried to enter Bithynia...but the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them.And God didn't immediately tell Paul where he was supposed to go.So what did Paul do?He kept faithfully walking with the light God had given him.Eventually, they reached Troas—and there God made the next direction clear:Macedonia.💭 Today's TruthGod may not show you the whole road, but He has given you enough truth to take the next faithful step.Psalm 119:105 says: “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”Sometimes we want a spotlight illuminating the next five years.God often gives us enough light to faithfully walk today.And remember: Acts 16 does not teach that every closed door means God has said no. Sometimes obstacles require perseverance.But it does remind us that following Jesus requires being willing to let Him redirect our plans—even good plans.Maybe instead of asking only: “God, will You show me the whole plan?”Ask: “Lord, what does faithfulness look like for me today?”Maybe it's having the conversation.Forgiving someone.Doing the work already in front of you.Waiting patiently.Walking away from something you know isn't right.Or simply continuing to pray while you wait for clearer direction.You may not know where Macedonia is yet. Just be faithful on the road to Troas.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You that I don't have to see the whole road in order to follow You. Give me wisdom to recognize Your direction and humility when You redirect my plans. Help me obey what You have already made clear instead of worrying about what You haven't shown me yet. Teach me to faithfully walk with You today and trust You with tomorrow. 📖 Truth Tuesday — When Fear Starts TalkingHave you ever become so worried about what might happen that you started living as though it will happen?David did.After years of running from Saul, 1 Samuel 27 begins with these words:“Then David said to himself...”And David decided and told himself: “Now I will perish one day by the hand of Saul.”But here's the question:Who told David that?God didn't.David had seen God's faithfulness. He knew God's promise. But in a tired and fearful moment, David allowed something he feared might happen to become something he believed would happen.💭 Today's TruthFear speaks in possibilities as though they were promises.Fear says:This isn't going to work out.You're not going to make it.Everything is going to fall apart.But before you build your decisions around what fear is telling you, ask:Did God actually say that?David eventually reaches a very different place.Instead of merely “David said to himself,” Scripture tells us:“But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”— 1 Samuel 30:6And then:“David inquired of the LORD...”— 1 Samuel 30:8What a difference.David moves from listening to what fear predicts...to asking what God says.Jesus gives us the same direction when worry carries us into tomorrow:“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself.”— Matthew 6:34And just before that, Jesus reminds us why:Our heavenly Father knows what we need.Once again, it comes back to God's character.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, help me recognize when fear is telling me a story about tomorrow that You have never told me. When my thoughts run toward the worst possible outcome, bring me back to what I KNOW about YOU! You are faithful. You know what I need. Help me seek Your voice instead of simply listening to my fears. Teach me to trust You with tomorrow while faithfully walking with You today. 📖 Motivation Monday — Yet I WillWhat do you do when you know God is good...but you don't understand what He's doing?That's where we find Habakkuk.He had prayed.God had answered.But the answer wasn't what Habakkuk expected.And by Habakkuk 3, he knew difficult days were coming.He didn't pretend he wasn't afraid.He didn't pretend everything was okay.Instead, he imagined nearly everything he normally depended upon disappearing—the figs, grapes, olives, crops, sheep, and cattle.And then comes one little word:“Yet...”Nothing in his circumstances had changed.But Habakkuk declared:“Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.”— Habakkuk 3:18That's not denial.  That's faith!💭 Today's TruthKnowing God's heart gives you somewhere to stand when life doesn't make sense.Maybe you're living in a “verse 17” season right now.Something you expected to produce... didn't.Something you thought would be there... isn't.Something you prayed would happen... hasn't.Don't pretend it doesn't hurt.Don't pretend you're not afraid.But don't let what you don't understand cause you to forget what you do know.You know who God is.Sometimes faith sounds like one little word:Yet.This hurts...yet I will trust Him.I don't understand...yet I will worship Him.I don't know what happens next...yet I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.And Habakkuk finishes with another beautiful truth.“The Lord GOD is my strength...”God doesn't always remove the difficult terrain.Sometimes His faithfulness is seen in giving us steady feet to walk through it.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, there are things in my life I don't understand, and sometimes I am afraid. Thank You that I don't have to pretend otherwise. Help me remember what I KNOW about YOU when I cannot understand what You are doing. You are compassionate, gracious, faithful, holy, and good. 📖 Faithful Friday — This Is Who He IsAll week we've been asking one question:What does it mean to really know God's heart?Today, in Exodus 34:5–8, God answers that question in His own words.Moses had prayed:“Show me Your glory.”God promised: “I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you.”And today... He does.God describes Himself as compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness and truth, forgiving—yet also perfectly holy and just.This isn't Moses telling us what he thinks God is like.God tells us who God is.💭 Today's TruthIf you want to know God's heart, listen to how God describes Himself.And after God reveals His character, notice Moses' response.He bows.He worships.Because knowing God isn't simply about collecting more information about Him.Knowing God should always lead us to worship God.To know God's heart is to know His character so well that you begin to trust Him before you understand Him.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, today I simply want to worship You for who You are. Thank You for Your compassion and grace. Thank You for Your patience, Your faithful love, and Your forgiveness. I praise You because You are holy, just, faithful, and true. 📖 Thankful Thursday — He Has Made Himself KnownWe've been walking slowly through Exodus 33 this week, and today we finally arrive at Moses' incredible request:“I pray You, show me Your glory!” — Exodus 33:18But what captured my attention today was God's answer.God says:“I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, AND will proclaim the name of the LORD before you...” — Exodus 33:19I love those two parts.Moses says, “Show me Your glory.”And God says, in essence:“Let Me show you My goodness... and let Me tell you My name.”Moses wants to see more of God.And God responds by showing Moses what He is like.Just think about that for a moment.God has revealed Himself.He's given us His Word.He's shown us His works.He's revealed His character.And ultimately, He has revealed Himself to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.We aren't left guessing about the heart of God.God has told us who He is.And the more I think about that, the more thankful I become.The God I want to know wants to be known.He has graciously made Himself known.💭 Today's TruthGod doesn't ask us to trust a character He has kept hidden.So don't define God by today's circumstances.When life doesn't make sense, God is still who He says He is.When prayers aren't answered the way you hoped, God is still who He says He is.When you can't see what comes next, God is still who He says He is.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You for making Yourself known. Thank You for Your Word, for the ways You have revealed Your character, and ultimately for revealing Yourself through Jesus Christ. Keep me from defining You by my circumstances. Teach me to know Your heart and trust who You are, even when I don't understand what You are doing. Give me a growing desire to know You more. 📖 Wisdom Wednesday — His Presence Is Better Than a Perfect PlanHave you ever wished God would just show you the whole plan?What should I do?Which direction should I go?How is this going to work out?Those aren't wrong questions.But in Exodus 33, Moses asks for something deeper:“Let me know Your ways that I may know You...”Moses didn't just want God's direction.He wanted to know the God who was directing him.And God's answer is beautiful:“My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”— Exodus 33:14God didn't hand Moses a detailed map.He gave Moses something better—His presence.💭 Today's TruthGod's presence is better than a perfect plan.You don't have to know everything about where you're going when you know Who is going with you.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You that I do not have to know everything about the road ahead because You are with me. Teach me Your ways so that I may know You more. When I want answers, help me trust Your presence. When I cannot see what comes next, remind me that I can trust the One who walks with me. Let Your presence be more precious to me than any destination I am trying to reach. 📖 Truth Tuesday — Draw NearThere was a detail in Exodus 33 that I couldn't get away from today.After Israel's sin with the golden calf, Moses pitched the tent of meeting outside the camp—“a good distance from the camp.”That distance mattered.Sin had brought disruption where God intended fellowship.But there was also mercy.Anyone who sought the LORD could go out to the tent. And there, Moses met with God.Scripture says the LORD spoke with Moses *just as a man speaks to his friend.”The more Moses knew God... the more of God he wanted to know.And here's where this becomes so beautiful for us.We aren't Israel standing outside that camp.Through the blood of Jesus Christ, a way has been made for us to come near to God.Hebrews gives us this incredible invitation:“...let us draw near...” (Hebrews 10:22)Not because we've earned our way in.Not because we've cleaned ourselves up.Because Jesus has made the way.And because being near to God is such a precious gift, we shouldn't casually cling to the things that pull our hearts away from Him.Draw near.And...*lay aside what entangles.💭 Today's TruthGrace brings us near to God—and teaches us to leave behind what pulls us away from Him.Maybe the Holy Spirit has already been putting His finger on something in your life.A habit.An attitude.Bitterness.A compromise.Don't walk away from it so God will love you.In Christ, turn from it because He has already brought you near.And remember:Spending time with God isn't merely something you have to do.Through Jesus...you get to draw near.🙏 Today's PrayerLord Jesus, thank You for making a way for me to draw near to God. Thank You that my access to Him doesn't depend upon my goodness, but upon what You accomplished for me at the cross. Search my heart today and show me anything I am holding onto that is pulling me away from close fellowship with You. Give me grace to lay it aside. I don't simply want to know more about You—I want to know You more. 📖 Motivation Monday — The Greatest BlessingWhat if you reached the destination you had prayed for...but missed the greatest treasure along the way?Israel had sinned terribly with the golden calf. Yet in Exodus 33, the Promised Land was still before them.The land.The provision.The promise.But then came the devastating words:"...I will not go up in your midst..." (Exodus 33:3)Suddenly Israel was confronted with a deeper truth.The greatest thing about the Promised Land was never the land.It was the God who promised to go with them.And that raises an important question for us:Do I treasure what God gives me more than I treasure God Himself?We should absolutely pray for provision, healing, direction, restoration, and open doors.But don't become so focused on the answer you're seeking that you miss the One you're seeking it from.💭 Today's TruthThe greatest blessing God gives us is Himself.And here's another thought I hope you'll carry with you today:Never become so focused on where God is taking you that you forget the treasure is walking with Him.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You for every good gift You have given me. But today, help me remember that my greatest treasure is not what You provide—it is YOU!  Keep me from becoming so focused on where I want to go or what I want You to do that I miss the joy of walking with You today. Teach me to treasure Your presence, know Your heart, and enjoy You along the journey. 📖 Faithful Friday — The Greatest InvitationSomething happened in our Five More Minutes devotions this week that I didn't plan.Different passages.Different people.Different circumstances.But the Lord kept drawing our attention back to the same place:Himself.And today in Jeremiah 9:23–24, God tells us what really matters:"...let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me..."What an invitation!The greatest treasure of the Christian life isn't merely knowing more "about" God.It's "knowing God."💭 Today's TruthGod's greatest invitation isn't simply to receive His blessings... it's to know His heart.And when I talk about knowing God's heart, I mean knowing His revealed character—knowing Him well enough that when life doesn't make sense, we still know what kind of God He is.This week we've watched God change Asaph's perspective.We've met "El Roi", the God who saw Hagar in the wilderness.We've asked God to open our eyes with Elisha's servant.We've learned with David that God made His ways known to Moses, not merely His acts.And today.... We are reminded we have been invited to know Him.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, more than simply knowing about You, I want to know You! Teach me Your ways and reveal Your character through Your Word. Help me know You so deeply that when I don't understand what You are doing, I can still trust who You are. Give me a greater hunger for Your presence and a deeper desire to know Your heart. 📖 Thankful Thursday — Know His WaysPsalm 103 is one of the most loved chapters in the Bible.Many of us know its beautiful reminders of God's forgiveness, compassion, and love.But this week, one verse stopped me in my tracks."He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel." (Psalm 103:7)Israel witnessed God's mighty acts.They saw the Red Sea part.They ate manna in the wilderness.They watched miracle after miracle.But David says something different about Moses.Moses came to know God's ways.He came to know God's heart.💭 Today's TruthThankfulness grows deeper when we remember who God is—not just what He has done.It's easy to spend our prayers thanking God for His blessings.And we should.But there is an even deeper place of worship.When we begin to thank Him for His character...for His compassion...His grace...His patience...His faithful love...our gratitude becomes rooted in something that never changes.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You not only for all You have done for me, but for who You are. Thank You that You are compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness. Help me move beyond simply celebrating Your gifts to delighting in Your heart. What shall we do?" 2 Kings 6:15But Elisha prayed a very different prayer than we might expect.He didn't ask God to remove the army.He didn't ask God to change the circumstances.He prayed:"O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." 2 Kings 6:17The army was still there.But the servant finally saw something greater.God had been with them all along.💭 Today's WisdomThe greatest need in fearful moments isn't always changed circumstances... it's opened eyes.Faith doesn't pretend our problems aren't real.It reminds us that our problems are never the whole story.God is always at work in ways we cannot yet see.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, when fear begins to shape my thinking, open my eyes to see You more clearly. 📖 Truth Tuesday — The God Who SeesSometimes we come to a familiar Bible story and discover something about God we've never fully noticed before.That's what happened to me this week in Genesis 16.Most of us know Hagar as the mother of Ishmael.But before she's remembered for history...she's a frightened woman alone in the wilderness.And that's where we read these beautiful words:"Now the angel of the LORD found her..."(Genesis 16:7)Hagar wasn't searching for God.God came looking for Hagar.Later, she gives Him a remarkable name:El Roi—"The God who sees."What a beautiful reminder that God's compassion is never limited by our failures or by the complicated circumstances we find ourselves in.💭 Today's TruthBefore Hagar found hope, she discovered she had never been out of God's sight.The same God who met Hagar in the wilderness still sees His children today.He knows every burden you carry.Every question you wrestle with.Every fear you've never spoken out loud.And He has not forgotten you.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You for being El Roi—the God who sees! 📖 Truth Tuesday — Grace Is Still Changing MeOne of the beautiful things about the gospel is that it allows us to look honestly at who we were without forgetting who we are because of Jesus.In Titus 3, Paul doesn't minimize the past.He says, “For we also once were...”But then everything changes:“But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us...”Our story changed because God acted.And that grace didn't stop working the day we were saved.Even as believers, the Holy Spirit continues to reveal attitudes, habits, words, and actions that don't look like Jesus.When He does, we don't have to excuse them.We don't have to hide them.And we don't have to live imprisoned by them.We confess.We repent.We receive His forgiveness.And we keep walking with Jesus as He changes us.💭 Today's TruthGrace doesn't erase the truth about who you were. It changes who you are becoming. And remembering grace should change the way we see others too.When I remember how patient God has been with me, I should become more patient with you.When I remember how much mercy I've received, I should become more willing to give mercy away.🙏 Today's PrayerLord, thank You for Your mercy toward me. God's Word matters. Worship and obedience matter. But none of those are ways we manufacture spiritual life for ourselves. Truth Tuesday - The One Who Knows You BestBefore Nathanael ever met Jesus...Jesus already knew him.That's what makes John 1 so beautiful.Jesus didn't discover Nathanael and decide to love him.He already knew his heart.His questions.His struggles.And He still called him to come.The same is true for us.God didn't begin loving you after you came to Him.As Romans 5:8 reminds us, "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."He knows every fear.Every failure.Every hidden struggle.Nothing about your life has ever surprised Him.And yet...He still invites you to come.The One who knows you best is the One inviting you to come closer.🙏 Today's PrayerFather, thank You for knowing me completely and loving me perfectly.
