When I marched with Dr. King
from Tea With George · host George Caylor
As we commemorate Martin Luther King Day, I have some personal experience because I marched with Martin Luther King back in 1964. I was a waiter in Atlantic City and a black waiter friend of mine asked me if I would have some time to join him in supporting Dr King that day. I said, “sure sounds interesting!” The whole group of about one hundred people, half black, half white, gathered together as Dr King addressed us. He said, “who doesn’t have $2?” If we didn’t have $2 we were given $2 so we wouldn’t be convicted of vagrancy. He told us, “No foul language, no violence, and if somebody hits us we’re not allowed to hit back.” I especially didn’t like that last one, but Dr Martin Luther King was a man of peace. How different from the BLM Burn Loot Murder that we have working against America today!
