Imagine half a million lives behind bars, each costing taxpayers over $20,000 a year. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Across the entire prison system, the U.S. spends more than $80 billion annually on corrections — money that could provide treatment, not just punishment.But on a more personal level, I walk you through one of the hardest things life has presented to me … my son’s addiction.
