Among all the attainments one can receive, the highest attainment is liberation. A devotee of Shiva thinks, “Where should I go after death?” What does he pray for? “O Lord, let me leave this body while I am worshipping You.” What does a warrior wish for? “I should die on the battlefield.” What does a good government officer wish for? “I should leave this world while I am still working in my office.” What do leaders wish for? “I should depart while I am still in office.” Isn’t it? In the same way, what does a devotee of Shiva wish for? “O Lord, let me leave this world while I am worshipping You.” My mother used to say this often: “How should I go? I should go while I am worshipping God.” Likewise, what does a yogi aspire for? To attain the Divine state. To reach the highest state.
