When Winter Steps Aside - Ostara, Ēostre, and the Changing of the Guard in Norse Myth

There isn't a lot of material available on Spring deities and practices for early Germanic, Anglo-Saxon, and Norse cosmology. But the Spring is still a time of transition that we mark. The Equinox is often referred to as Ostara in many traditions but what exactly do we do? It's still cold, snowy, wet, and freezing temps are definitely a possibility. Why is it "Spring"?
