Ramblings through Vanaheim Podcast

Ramblings Through Vanaheim is a reflective journey into modern pagan spirituality, Norse cosmology, animism, and lived magical practice, approached as a living spiritual ecology rather than a fixed belief system. This podcast supports solitary practitioners, new pagans, and seasoned seekers who are looking for depth, context, and thoughtful spiritual companionship beyond rigid structures.Hosted by a practitioner with more than 24 years of lived experience, each episode (20–40 minutes) moves beyond retelling myths or listing correspondences. These conversations weave together traditional sources, historical perspective, and UPG (unverified personal gnosis), honoring personal spiritual experience as part of an evolving relationship with the unseen. Myth is treated as an active framework — a way to understand cycles, fate, land, sovereignty, and the responsibilities of walking a magical path in the modern world.Topics often explore discernment, spiritua

The Spirits Next Door - What Happened To The Landvættir

🌿 Long-form pagan podcast — listen like an audio journey. Landvættir [LAND-vet-teer] are some of the most recognizable spirits within Norse and Icelandic tradition, yet they are often reduced to little more than "nature spirits" in modern discussions. The old sources paint a more complex picture—one where the land itself is alive with presences worthy of respect, caution, and relationship. In this episode of Ramblings Through Vanaheim, we wander through the historical references to land spirits found in Icelandic law, Heimskringla, and later folklore traditions. Along the way, we explore the connections between landvættir, household spirits, tomten [TOM-ten], brownies, hidden folk, and the broader animistic worldview that shaped how people understood the world around them. We'll also discuss what it means to build relationships with the land in modern pagan practice, why respect matters more than control, and how everyday actions can become a form of devotion. So grab your favorite beverage, settle in, and join me as we spend some time meeting the neighbors. drumming: Sound Effect by Adinkra Audio www.pixabay.comImages (in no order): InsaPictures from Pixabay; Couleur from Pixabay; klimkin from Pixabay; MythologyArt from Pixabay; Swedish Christmas card by Jenny Nyström, circa 1899; By John Bauer - Illustration of Walter Stenström's The boy and the trolls or The Adventure in childrens' anthology Among pixies and trolls, a collection of childrens' stories, 1915., Public Domain; Julemotiv_tegnet_av_Jenny_Nystrøm_(24207693358) Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/cw/RamblingsfromVanaheimWordpress website: https://ramblingsfromvanaheim.org/YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAeOKGtMPDBxVpDEVTuVqowTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@agvanidottir

Outdwellers - The Ones Who Do Not Stay

🌿 Long-form pagan podcast — listen like an audio journey. In this episode, I explore the idea of the Outdwellers in modern pagan practice through the lens of Norse cosmology, ritual structure, archaeology, and personal experience. Drawing from my years in both Druid and Norse traditions, I discuss Innangarð and Útangarð, sacred boundaries, guardians like Heimdallr and Móðguðr, and what it truly means to stand at the edge of ritual space on behalf of a community. This is a conversation about thresholds, treaty-making, liminal spaces, and the responsibility of bringing people back from the edge once the work is done.drumming: Sound Effect by Adinkra Audio www.pixabay.comImage Video: www.pixabay.comsubtitles embedded for accessibility.Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/cw/RamblingsfromVanaheimWordpress website: https://ramblingsfromvanaheim.org/YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAeOKGtMPDBxVpDEVTuVqowTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@agvanidottir

Categories of the Cosmos in Norse Mythology (Norse Genealogy) Part 5

🌿 Long-form pagan podcast — listen like an audio journey. This longer episode brings us to the closing threads of the Jötnar genealogy, where the structure loosens and the names begin to feel more like touchpoints than a continuous family line. We move quickly through figures who appear briefly, sometimes only once, yet still shape the mythology through impact, challenge, or presence rather than inheritance. Along the way, I try to weave together what survives in the sources with a grounded, lived approach to understanding these patterns, allowing space where the record is thin and acknowledging where interpretation naturally steps in. It’s less about building a perfect lineage and more about recognizing how these beings, whether central or obscure, contribute to the larger rhythm of the mythic world. I may have mispronounced some of the names and for that I apologize, English is barely my first language. If I forgot any of the other Jötnar, and they didn't appear in other episodes, please drop me a comment and I will see where I can squeeze them in later.drumming: Sound Effect by Adinkra Audio www.pixabay.comImage Video: www.pixabay.comPatreon page: https://www.patreon.com/cw/RamblingsfromVanaheimWordpress website: https://ramblingsfromvanaheim.org/YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAeOKGtMPDBxVpDEVTuVqowTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@agvanidottir

Walpurgisnacht & Beltane — Fire, Thresholds, and the Places In-Between

Beltane and Walpurgisnacht mark a powerful turning point in the year—one that celebrates life in its fullest, most unapologetic form. In this episode, we explore the historical roots of these fire festivals alongside their deeper pagan meaning: fertility, vitality, connection, and the raw momentum of the living world. From traditional fire rites and seasonal transitions to the liminal space where the veil thins, this is a look at what happens when life answers death in the cycle of the year. We also touch on the Vanir and the forces of growth, desire, and continuation that define this season. This is not a quiet observance. It’s a living one.  drumming: Sound Effect by Adinkra Audio www.pixabay.comVideo:  www.pixabay.comPatreon page:  https://www.patreon.com/cw/RamblingsfromVanaheimWordpress website:  https://ramblingsfromvanaheim.org/YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAeOKGtMPDBxVpDEVTuVqowTikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@agvanidottir

The Multi-Layered Earth Powers - Nerþus, Hreða, Erce, Fjörgyn, and Jörð

Hello, this is a long-form pagan podcast — listen like an audio journey. I apologize for the slightly late posting again. This time of year is always a little rough for me so I am a little slower than normal. Today's episode is covering several Earth centric goddesses and how the layer into the energies of the earth. I've woven together some lore, some UPG, and sprinkled in some what-if for those that like to explore. 🌿 Long-form pagan podcast — listen like an audio journey.Hi there! I apologize for the slightly late posting. Today we are diving into another section of the Jötnar line. Sadly, or not, I didn’t manage to get all the way through it. So many new ideas and connections! We will get there, I promise. In the meantime, it’s a wild ride. I mispronounce things right and left. As I am not a native speaker of any Nordic language past or present - please be gracious. I did my best but some of those names I could barely get my tongue around, let alone past my lips correctly. Sheesh. Despite the stumbles, I hope you enjoy this list of rabbit trails I am hopping down. Perfect for spring, yes?

When Winter Steps Aside - Ostara, Ēostre, and the Changing of the Guard in Norse Myth

There isn't a lot of material available on Spring deities and practices for early Germanic, Anglo-Saxon, and Norse cosmology. But the Spring is still a time of transition that we mark. The Equinox is often referred to as Ostara in many traditions but what exactly do we do? It's still cold, snowy, wet, and freezing temps are definitely a possibility. Why is it "Spring"? Well, let's ramble along and see what we find. Ramblings website:  https://ramblingsfromvanaheim.org/ drumming background: drumming music - Sound Effect by Adinkra Audio www.pixabay.com

Charming of the Plough - Nerthus, Sacred Work, and the Quiet Magic of Beginning Again

In this episode, we talk about a little known rite called Charming of the Plough. Contrary to popular belief, the name of the rite is a more modern rendition rather than ancient Scandinavian or Anglo-Saxon practice. However, it does have deep roots to that time period. Make yourselves comfortable and enjoy a chat on this season-changing practice.

Categories of the Cosmos in Norse Mythology Part 3 - Dwarves & Jötnar

In this episode we get back into the genealogy of the Norse cosmology. I managed to make it through the Dwarves and a small part of the Jötnar before needing to break. I didn't get nearly as far as I had originally planned, but that's okay. At least it's interesting!

Dísablót - Honoring the Women Who Walk Before Us

February is here and with it comes Imbolc and Dísablót. For heathenry we celebrate the latter by remembering the women of our lines. This doesn't have to be blood specific either. Join me to walk through a brief examination of the Dísir and what this holy day is for us.
