Where Will Tomorrow's Technician's Come From?

from CVC Home Service Success Network Hosted by The CVC Home Service Success Network

Ask almost any home-service business owner what one of their biggest challenges is today, and you'll hear: “Finding good people!” But maybe we need to ask a different question: Why aren't more young people choosing the skilled trades as a career? For decades, young people have often been encouraged to pursue college while careers in the trades were presented as a second choice. At the same time, many home-service companies have been advertising jobs when they should be marketing careers and futures. On this episode of the CVC Home Service Success Network, we're going to discuss what home-service business owners can do to change that. We'll explore: Why young people often overlook careers in the trades Why parents can play an important role in career decisions How to change the perception of skilled-trade careers Why companies should hire for character and train for skill How to create a career ladder young employees can see The importance of training, mentorship and advancement Why your company culture affects recruiting How to create an Employee Value Proposition Why recruiting today is really another form of marketing How we can start building tomorrow's technicians today The future of the trades isn't something we can simply wait for. We have to build it! Stop looking for people to simply fill trucks. Start giving talented young people an opportunity to build a career, develop valuable skills, become leaders and create a future they can be proud of.
