Why Australia needs opt-out organ donation | The legacy of Zaidee’s rainbow | Allan Turner

from Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO

In this episode of the Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO Podcast, I sat down with Allan Turner, Managing Director of Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation, for one of the most moving conversations I've had on the show. When Zaidee was just six years old, she turned to her mum and said, "If anything happened to me, I'd like to be a donor to another kid." Seven months later, following a sudden cerebral aneurysm, Allan and his wife Kim honoured her wish. Through organ and tissue donation, seven lives were saved and forever changed.Out of unimaginable grief came Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation, a mission dedicated to helping families have the conversations most of us never think we'll need, while advocating for an opt-out organ donation system that Allan believes could give many more Australians the chance to receive the gift of life. This conversation was deeply personal for me. Having received a donor cornea transplant myself, I know my own life has been touched by the generosity of a family I'll never meet. Sitting with Allan was a powerful reminder that every donation begins with a decision made and that same decision can become hope for another family. If countries around the world have shown that opt-out organ donation can save more lives, why is Australia still waiting? Allan doesn't ask us to choose a side. He simply asks us to have the conversation, understand our choices and make sure the people we love know our wishes.THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTIONAt the heart of this conversation was a shift from seeing organ donation as a difficult conversation about loss to recognising it as one of the greatest gifts we can leave behind. This is how that shift unfolded through the Bee Formless™ methodology.LEARN (LETTING GO)✨ The belief that conversations about organ donation can wait until another day.✨ The assumption that our loved ones already know our wishes.✨ The fear that talking about organ donation is only about loss rather than the gift of life.UNLEARN (CREATE, REIMAGINE & RESHAPE)✨ Reimagine organ donation as one of the greatest gifts we can leave for others.✨ Create space for conversations that bring clarity, certainty and compassion during life’s most difficult moments.✨ Reshape how we think about organ donation by exploring how an opt-out system could help save more lives.RELEARN (TEST & IMPLEMENT)✨ Have the conversation with those closest to you before they ever need to make the decision.✨ Learn how one informed choice has the potential to transform many lives.✨ Recognise that one gift can create hope, healing and second chances for families you’ve never met.ACTIVE RECOVERY (REFLECT & RESET)✨ If your family had to make the decision today, would they know your wishes?✨ What kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind?✨ Could one conversation today become the greatest gift you ever give?🔗 https://www.linkedin.com/in/allan-turner-zaidees-rainbow🌐 https://www.zaideesrainbowfoundation.org.au💭 What conversation could you have today that might become the greatest gift you ever leave? If something is shifting in your life, leadership or business, start with a Strategic Shape Shift Diagnostic:https://calendly.com/beeformless/strategicshapeshiftdiagnostic#beeformless #flowdrivenceo #zaideesrainbow #organdonation #optout #legacy #humanity
