Why Clancy's Surgeon Called Her Injuries Superficial

from True Crime Today | Daily True Crime News & Interviews · host Real Story Media

A South Shore Hospital surgeon took the stand at Plymouth Superior Court and told the jury that Lindsay Clancy's wrist and neck injuries on the night she allegedly killed her three children were superficial. The cuts went through skin and exposed fat but didn't reach muscles, arteries, or tendons. The prosecution needed that testimony to support their argument that Clancy's attempt on her own life wasn't real. Then Clancy's defense attorney Kevin Reddington revealed something the surgeon never knew — her patient's heart had stopped at Brigham and Women's Hospital and she required massive blood transfusions to survive. The rest of Day 6 centered on prescription evidence. Thirteen bottles were presented to the jury, most nearly full. Prosecutors argued Clancy wasn't taking her medications. The defense showed all thirteen were prescribed in a three-week span. Forensic scientists confirmed five psychiatric drugs in Clancy's blood — mirtazapine, lamotrigine, quetiapine, trazodone, and benzodiazepines — and confirmed the absence of any recreational or illicit substances. Post-mortem results on Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months, showed nothing in their systems. Clancy also spoke in court for the first time, agreeing to stipulations that concede all physical evidence and narrow the trial entirely to her mental state.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
