Why was it difficult in olden days to learn the art of Kundalini Yogam? ஏன் குண்டலினி யோகத்தை அக்காலத்தில் கற்றுக்கொளள்வது கடினமாக இருந்தது?

from Santhosam Podcast: Guiding Light of Spiritual Wisdom · host Santhosam

Attaining true wisdom, known as Mei Gnanam, is very difficult. It’s a special skill that not everyone can easily learn. There are 64 other arts, but they are temporary and can disappear. True wisdom, however, is eternal and never fades. This sacred knowledge was first taught in India long ago, but even then, learning it was very hard. The Upanishads tell us about Brihaspati and say that the Asuras (demons) are experts in knowledge about the body, while the Devas (gods) excel in understanding the life force or soul. Both groups asked their teacher for help, saying, “Please teach us what never dies—the imperishable truth.”Originally, this teaching was given over 108 years, but since people don’t live that long now, the time was shortened to 64 years, then 33 years, and finally to 12 years. This became the length of the Gurukula education system, called “Mamankam,” where students would train strictly for 12 years, following a disciplined, celibate lifestyle. Even today, we see echoes of this system in modern education: in India, we follow the 10+2 structure, and in many countries abroad, it is 8+4 — showing the idea of learning over a set number of years. The power that lies deep within us is the same as the universal cosmic energy. The ancient sages named this energy ‘Kundalini Shakti’. This cosmic force exists not only in the vast universe (the macrocosm) but also within this body (the microcosm). Therefore, instead of searching for it in far-off places, it is enough to realize and awaken the immense divine power that already resides within us.To do this, we use the mind. But the mind is often restless and hard to control. So, we begin by calming the body. When the body is steady, the mind becomes calmer. When the mind is calm, our breathing becomes smooth. And when our breath is steady, everything—body, mind, and inner energy—comes into balance. This whole process is best done with the help of a Guru, a teacher who guides us to walk the inner path and realize our true self. Send us Fan MailLet Wisdom Flourish!Let Peace Prevail!
