Why you need to be catechized.

from Anglican Catechism with Father Elmer · host Father Elmer Miguel

Welcome to the Anglican catechism podcast with me Fr. Elmer Miguel.Do you know why we say the Creed every day? Is it important to pray the Lord's prayer? Do the 10 Commandments still apply to us today? These are questions that impact Christians from every tradition, place, and age. The catechism helps us to answer these questions. The word catechism means instruction. From the beginning of the Church, new converts to the Christian faith were devoted to a period of instruction given by their church leaders. It was a period of 1 to 3 years in which the catechumens, the new Christians, were prepared for their baptism by learning the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Later in the Anglican Church and other traditions, the catechism was also used for the preparation of people who were preparing to receive the sacrament of confirmation and to be accepted as members of the church. The catechism became a process, not only to prepare new converts, but also to continue to disciple people in the Christian faith. This particular catechism is Anglican in nature because it is based on the Anglican tradition, but it is useful for the growth and development of any Christian. I invite you to listen and share the podcast with a friend who could benefit from the catechism. My prayer for you is that you would continue to grow in your faith as you endeavor to know and love God.
