Why You React Before You’ve Had Time to Think
from Quiet Mirror Moments™ · host Deborah Blignaut from Quietly Confident Women™
Have you ever received a message that immediately sparks something in you — annoyance, frustration, hurt — and found yourself replying before you’ve really had time to think? Or perhaps you’re simply having a difficult day, only to find yourself judging yourself because you can’t seem to “stay positive”. In this episode of Quiet Mirror Moments™, I’m talking about what happens when life stirs something in us, and the difference between reacting from an emotion and giving ourselves enough space to respond. Because changing the relationship we have with ourselves doesn’t mean we stop getting upset, worried, frustrated or hurt. It doesn’t mean we should always be positive. And it certainly doesn’t mean we have to handle every difficult situation perfectly. Sometimes we’re just stuck in the mud. We explore why pausing before responding can completely change the outcome of a difficult conversation, the questions I’ve learnt to ask myself when something gets under my skin, and what happens when the thing worrying us is something we simply cannot control. I also share why human connection has felt particularly important to me lately, and how a conversation with a friend, a kind message, having your hair done or simply doing something that makes you feel good can help widen your perspective. Not because the difficult thing has disappeared. But because it isn’t the only thing happening in your life. This is a conversation about emotional reactions, staying positive when life feels hard, Self Image, awareness, human connection, Beauty and Self Expression, Lifestyle and Wellbeing, and learning to treat yourself with a little more kindness on the days when you’re not okay. 🤍 Deborah Quietly Confident Women™
