Schon vor dem Angriff der Hamas auf Israel am 7. Oktober 2023 war die Versorgung des Gazastreifens mit Wasser stark von Israel abhängig. Seitdem Israel die Stromversorgung abgestellt hat und viele Wasserleitungen und -pumpen durch Bomben zerstört sind, hat sich die Versorgungslage verschärft. Wie die Lage vor Ort aussieht, weiß Steffi Hentschke, Korrespondentin der ZEIT in Tel Aviv. Sie erklärt außerdem, wie Wasser als politisches Mittel eingesetzt wird.  Der Kampf um Rohstoffe hat die Weltpolitik schon immer geprägt – sei es durch den Kolonialismus der Moderne oder die Ölkriege der Neuzeit. Wo immer sich diese Ressourcen finden, wollen Industriestaaten ihren Zugriff auf diese sichern. Auch wenn die Methoden heute subtiler geworden sind, sieht Andreas Molitor, freier Autor für die ZEIT, immer noch große Ähnlichkeiten zum historischen Kolonialismus.
