Wijzigt Duitsland koers inzake Israël? & Trumps totaalpakket

Openlijke kritiek van Duitsland op het militaire optreden van Israël: lang leek dat onmogelijk. Toch heeft bondskanselier Merz gisteren precies dat gedaan. Volgens hem zijn de aanvallen van Israël op Gaza niet meer te rechtvaardigen door de strijd tegen Hamas, en kunnen ze zelfs strijdig zijn met het internationaal humanitair recht. Daarmee lijkt de Duitse steun aan Israël niet meer zo onvoorwaardelijk als voorheen. Wat deze mogelijke koerswijziging inhoudt, bespreken we met Marja Verburg van het Duitsland Instituut. Trumps totaalpakket "Big beautiful bill". Zo heet het totaalpakket waarmee Donald Trump zijn complete politieke agenda in één keer door het parlement wil krijgen. Formeel is het een fiscaal plan voor belastingverlaging en bezuinigingen. Maar om in één keer klaar te zijn met het Huis van Afgevaardigden en de Senaat heeft hij ook zijn overige plannen, van deportaties tot het stimuleren van fossiele energie in het dikke dossier opgenomen.
