🎮 Will AI Replace Game Developers? Not the Ones Who Do This.
from The Game Creator Accelerator
AI is changing game development faster than ever. With tools that can generate code, art, and even entire game experiences, it’s easy to wonder whether human developers will still have a place in the industry. But making a game is about much more than generating code. I’ve been testing AI in Unreal for months, and in this episode I share where I actually stand: why I’m not afraid of it, and why it can become a trap if you skip the foundations. We talk about the difference between games generated by AI and games built by developers who understand what they’re creating, draw from their own experiences, and put their personality into their work. Games like "Celeste," "Papers, Please," and "Undertale" are remembered for what they made people feel, and players can tell when a game has no heart. As AI-generated games flood the market, I believe the developers who stand out will be the ones with something meaningful to say. And that’s where you come in: your experiences, your story, and the way you see the world are the one thing no tool can generate. 💡 The real question isn’t whether AI can make games. It’s what makes YOUR game worth playing. I’d love to hear from you: how are you using AI in your project right now, and where have you decided not to use it? Drop it in the comments. I read every one, and your answers might shape a future episode.
