Willoughby Surgery: Names, Jurisdiction and Standing Your Ground

Tonight I revisited the core ideas behind the Foundation course and answered a string of listener questions about how the system, identity, jurisdiction and paperwork fit together from my perspective. I walked through the sequence I teach: securing your name via a limited company, registering a trade mark, and using an enrolled deed poll to distinguish your personal identity from the all-caps version commonly used across official documents. I also discussed how I believe those steps relate to court procedure, house deeds, Land Registry entries and the wider question of how people choose to operate between what I described as the ‘legal’ and the ‘lawful’.We then moved into practical Q&A, including HMRC correspondence for dormant companies, self-assessment and tax, vehicle ownership and keeper arrangements, hire purchase and leased cars, and dealing with enforcement agents.
