COVID series, recorded 2020Richard, a UK native, embarked on a journey across the globe before settling in South Africa in 1999 to pursue his passion for winemaking. Founding Richard Kershaw Wines in 2012, he dedicated himself to crafting site-specific, cool climate wines in the Elgin Valley, renowned as South Africa's coolest wine region. His focus on noble grape varieties, capable of producing exceptional wines, has led to a collection of highly sought-after and award-winning wines, such as the Kershaw Elgin Chardonnay, Syrah, and Pinot Noir, as well as the innovative Kershaw Deconstructed Chardonnay and Syrah. As one of only ten Masters of Wine actively involved in winemaking and the sole Master of Wine in South Africa, Richard is in high demand both in and out of the vineyard. He serves as a judge for esteemed wine competitions worldwide, contributes to the educational endeavors of the Institute of Masters of Wine, lectures for the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) in South Africa, and generously shares his wealth of knowledge through engaging talks, tastings, and insightful blogs.
