With all due respect...it's none of your business

Why is it, when imposed upon disrespectfully, are WE the ones (seemingly) apologizing, or, what seems like - begging for forgiveness? We've got it backward. In answering a disrespectful question, or responding to an intrusive act, there is no 'all due respect.' THEY are the ones that should be framing their insensitive questions with it... ...not you feeling like you're disrespectful if you don't.
