This troubled production is based on Whitley Strieber's 1978 novel of the same title and features Albert Finney, Diane Venora, Edward James Olmos, Gregory Hines, Tom Noonan, and some interesting visual and practical effects. The Grue-Crew are impressed with the cinematography and the ending, but the whole "wolfvision" thing, impressive at the time, looks a bit dated. But the wolves! The wolves are magnificently filmed! Jeff still loves Wolfen, but Bill and Crystal feel the film has suffered a bit with age. Either way, there is much to discuss… and to wonder about. At the time of this writing, Wolfen (1981) is available to stream from Tubi, and multiple PPV sources. It is available on physical media as a Blu-ray formatted disc from the Warner Archive Collection. Every two weeks, Gruesome Magazine's Decades of Horror 1980s podcast will cover another horror film from the 1980s.
