Woman Misses Red Flags and Hands Over Gold & Savings to Scammer

Montecito Bank & Trust Fraud Specialist reports that one of their customers was taken in by a complicated scam. It started as the familiar Tech Support Scam. The victim believes she is speaking to Microsoft Tech Support. She is told her identity has been compromised and that she needs to take out $25,000, which she eventually was able to do. She meets a courier and gives the crook her money. She also has money at an investment brokerage. She followed the scammers directive and withdrew more cash- before handing it over to the crooks.
