Captain Grable grew up in San Francisco, California. When World War II broke out, he enlisted in the US Army and was selected early for a commission as an officer. As the war came to a close following the dropping of nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, Lloyd was part of the US Military nation rebuilding effort.
