WYCO Behavioural Health Court The Wyandotte County Behavioural Health Court is a problem solving court that works to help defendants with a Felony conviction, that have a severe and persistent mental illness and have been placed on probation. They must have a diagnosis by Wyandotte Mental Healthcare and are referred to the court by prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officers and even other judges. They are put under the supervision of the Behavioural Health Court if they voluntarily enroll and participate in a treatment program consisting of four phases that lasts about 12-18 months. Host Craig Lubow talks with Judge Michael Russell of the Wyandotte County Behavioural Court about how the court works to help those with mental illness who are convicted of a felony get the treatment they need instead of putting them into a correctional system that is not equipped to give them the needed treatment.
