高雄榮民總醫院皮膚科主治醫師、台灣皮膚科醫學會副秘書長魏楷哲指出，放射療法（放療）是一種治療癌症和其他疾病的方法，利用高能量的輻射線來摧毀腫瘤細胞或者阻止其生長；或者像是執行心導管手術時，為了讓醫師不需要全身麻醉手術打開胸腔就能看清楚心臟血管與病灶的位置，就需要透過放射線來協助定位。
