【用新聞學英文】George Clooney Gave $1 Million Cash to 14 Friends. 喬治克隆尼送一百萬美金現金給14位友人

✋Article No, it's not a movie: actor George Clooney actually gave 14 of his friends $1 million each — all in cash. The world learned about the gifts in a 2017 interview with Clooney's friend Rande Gerber. At the time, nobody was sure if the story was true. However, Clooney recently confirmed it while talking to the magazine GQ. In 2013, Clooney's movie Gravity made $723 million at cinemas around the world, and the star wanted to give something back to the friends who had given him money and places to sleep when he was poor. Clooney wasn't married yet, and had no children — he and international lawyer Amal Alamuddin didn't marry until September 2014. His friends were in his will, but the actor didn't want to wait until he died to give them money. So Clooney, now 59, filled 14 bags with cash and invited his friends to his home. The friends found a black bag in front of each of them at Clooney's table, Gerber told MSNBC in 2017. "We open it up, and it's $1 million in $20 bills." According to Business Insider, Clooney didn't just pay $14 million, however. He also would have had to pay tax on the gifts, which could have added another $3.5 million to the total. ✋Words & Phrases actually 實際上 lawyer 律師 will 遺囑 #每周二、四更新 #歡迎留言給Neil ----- 主持人：陳彣 (Neil) ----- Apple｜Spotify｜Google｜KKBOX｜Fistory｜SoundOn 搜尋訂閱：英語Follow me ----- ▍教育電臺 ▍官網:https://bit.ly/39ISswV ▍粉絲團:https://bit.ly/nerpodcastlink ▍線上收聽:https://bit.ly/3cyxBhE Powered by Firstory Hosting
