You Can't Preach One Thing, & Live Another!

I’m just going to say it how it is, because this has been on my mind heavy lately. One thing that confuses me about some people in the church is how easy it is for them to talk about the Word but not actually live it. And I’m not saying anybody has to be perfect, because clearly, none of us are. But there’s a difference between struggling and straight-up ignoring what you’re teaching.Like, how are you going to sit there and tell people how to live for Christ, but behind closed doors you’re doing the complete opposite? That’s where it starts to feel fake. And people can see that. You might think they don’t, but trust me, they do. Jesus made it clear we’re supposed to be doers of the Word, not just hearers. It’s easy to quote scripture. It’s easy to post about God. It’s easy to give advice. But living it? That’s the real work. That’s where the consistency shows up.And honestly, this is why a lot of people don’t take Christianity seriously. It’s not always the message—it’s the messengers. When people see hypocrisy, it turns them off completely. You can’t tell someone “God is love” but you’re full of hate. You can’t talk about honesty but you’re lying and manipulating people. That’s what makes people question everything.And then we wonder why folks don’t want to come to church or don’t trust believers. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being real. If you mess up, own it. If you’re struggling, say that. But don’t act like you’re walking in something that you’re not even trying to live. That’s where the problem comes in.Because when you’re in a position where you’re teaching, leading, or even just speaking about God, people are watching you whether you like it or not. They’re building trust based on what you say AND what you do.
