Hey everybody, glad to have you today. Pastor Jeff and Farah Coleman, New Harvest Church in Maribel, Tennessee, and welcome to your harvest now. Listen, we are so excited about today's message. And I think one of the greatest teachings that we need in the body of Christ, we're gonna talk about today.

So you know we're excited. We already know what we're talking about. Listen, there's something that the enemy's been trying to take from you. There's something that the enemy's been trying to steal from you.

And that's your joy. Joy is your strength. The Bible says that the joy of the Lord is your strength. You've got to understand that if you took the word joy and you took the word strength, you could interchange those words because joy, hear me, is strength.

So not only is joy a strength, joy is a powerful force. If you have no joy, you have no strength. And if you have no strength, then you can't resist. And if you can't resist, then the devil will not flee.

And if the devil does not flee, then you will not win. Your victory is directly linked to your joy. Joy is a force. Right now, your face won't break, I promise.

Your face won't crack. Right now, you're going to be, yeah, this smile. This, this, this, this, this, this try. Come on, this try.

Just try to put a smile on your face because listen, joy is not developed in your circumstances. Now it's not. I don't know. We think it is.

That's true. We really do. And it happens that way. That's correct.

That's correct. That's correct. When things are good. Then we're happy.

And when things are bad. Then we're depressed. We're depressed. And all that stuff that comes with anxiety, depression, worry, concern.

And as soon as the clouds roll in, you go downhill. As soon as the sun comes out, you're happy. Come on. If you cannot be in circumstances.

Joy cannot be found in people. If you ever wanted something, you thought, man, if I ever get that, I'm going to be happy. Have you ever thought, man, if I could ever just show up there, if I could ever get that job, come on. If I could ever get that car, if I could ever.

Get that husband. Oh, come on. Come on. Now, you know, and then once you get it, you think, wow, that didn't last long.

It just seems like the new wire is off stuff quick, man. And your joy is only temporary. But I want to tell you something you can have lasting joy. Joy can be cultivated.

Come on. Joy is not found in places or things or people. Joy is found. Come on.

In the person of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. And it can be. Come on. And it is the Bible says, joy is a fruit of the Spirit.

Let me find that for you today. I think you need that. Let me see if I can locate Galatians. Help me find it here, Pastor Farah.

522. Where's it at in those notes? Page 5. Page 5.

All right, guys. Look here. Let's, let's, let's, let's read this together. Pastor, I can't find it.

Let's see. You read it to him. Galatians 522. It just has part of it on here.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faith and self-control. Now, if you go back to the beginning of it, it says, but the fruit, it's one. One, there's not a plural. It's not, it's not, it's not, it's not.

It's not, it's not. It's not, it's not. It's not, it's not. It's not, it's not.

It's not, it's not. It's not, it's not. It's not. It's not.

So if you have the Holy Spirit, come on. You have joy. Yes you do. The fruit of the Spirit.

Come on. It's the joy of the Spirit. Come on. So your, your, your joy can't be really tied up in circumstances.

So the end, you can't take your joy. No, you can't. Come on guys. Unless you let him, unless you let him, the thief come and walk to steal, kill and destroy it.

So the devil can't have your joy. Come on. Remember that old song, this joy that I have, the world didn't give it to me. Come on.

This joy that I have, the world, you all, I can't sing, but anyway. The joy, come on. You don't want me to sing. Come on.

Joy, joy, Joy. You've got to start looking into what God says about you. You've got to start being empowered by the Holy Spirit and allow His joy to flow out of your life. Don't allow circumstances, situations to steal your joy.

Come on, I'm coming against depression. I'm coming against anxiety. I come against doubt. I come against all those things that the enemy tries to put on you right now in the name of Jesus.

And the Lord is coming against you. And the Lord is coming against you. And the Lord is coming against you. And the Lord is coming against you.

And the Lord is coming against you. Right now in the name of Jesus. And we declare joy over your life. Come on.

Joy is something God can restore. Now that's powerful. Psalm 51 12. The Bible says restore to me the joy of your salvation.

The joy of your salvation. You realize that joy can be restored. If you've lost something, God can cause your heart to smile. Even if things on the outside seem to be falling apart.

You can begin to smile on the inside. Come on. You can start having joy in the darkest moments of your life. He can restore right now.

Joy, do you remember? Come on. Do you remember some time in your life? I like to say it like this.

Do you remember when you first got saved? Nobody shut you up. Could nobody keep you quiet? Man, you run around with a smile on your face.

You had joy unspeakable and full of glory. It was just like bubbling up out of you. Could no situation. Could nobody try to get you to be quiet.

Could nobody quieten you up. Can you run around talking about? Man, if you knew this Jesus that I just met. And then here come the devil.

He can try to start stealing stuff from you and taking stuff from you. And before you know it, you don't even have any joy anymore. But David found himself in a situation just like that. It sounds 51.

He said, Lord restore your joy to me. Come on. Declare that over your home. Declare that over your family.

Thank you Lord. I received Psalms 51 12 over my life. My home and my family right now in the name of Jesus. I declare restore the joy of your salvation over me right now.

Come on. The same joy. That same joy is not only available to you today, but it's God's will for your life. Every day his desire is that we would know his joy every day.

His joy in our hearts in such a way that it becomes obvious to the people around us, especially those who live with us. Come on now. You know why folks no longer, a lot of people get saved today in our society. We live in the Bible Belt.

We're right here in Tennessee. Come on. The Bible Belt. We live right here in Tennessee.

And there's some city where I'm from the friendly city. Come on. I'm from the friendly city. So I love you all.

So that's where I'm from from Athens. They call it the friendly city. You drop through town and nobody waving. They know everybody's smiling.

Everybody's got a friend. It's for you to have joy. Yes. Come on.

People want to connect with happy people. Yes they do. Come on. Some of you look like you've been baptized upside down in the post hole, filled up with vinegar.

You look all sad. Yeah. Come on. God wants you to be happy.

Yes he does. Come on. He wants you to have joy. Listen, joy is found in God's presence.

Yes it is. Psalm 1611. You make known to me the path of life in your presence. There is fullness of joy.

At your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Come on. In his presence is joy. We say we're Christian.

We say we're born again. We say we're filled with the Holy Ghost. But we got to frown on our face. Look, turn that frown upside down.

Come on. God wants you to have a smile on your face. Joy in your heart. Come on.

Somebody's waiting on you to make their life better. Walk into a room. Fill up that room with a smile. Let joy come with you.

Let the fruit of joy come with you. No matter what circumstance. Look, the world is looking for you to walk through something that they're walking through, but they're looking for you to walk through it with peace. They're looking for you to walk through it with joy.

They're looking for you to walk through it with faith in your life where they say, man, what have they got that we don't have. What is it is on their life that we want? There's got to be a connection to the world around us that's dying. There's going to be light in the midst of darkness.

There's going to be a smile in the midst of a place where you should be frowning. There's going to be somebody saying, you know what? I don't care what comes against me today. I'm going to have joy.

Joy. I like what it says in Psalm 51 12, the last part of it, it says, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Come on. Lift me up and hold me up, Lord.

Give me that willing spirit. Yes. Hold me with the willing spirit. It takes a willing spirit.

If you choose, you have to choose to cultivate the fruit of the spirit in your life and allow it to flow out of you. That's right. But it takes a willing spirit and you need to ask for that if you don't have it. So look here.

Here's something to take with you. If joy is found in God's presence, if you like joy, you need to make a determined effort to spend time in God's presence. Come on now. Amen.

We spend time everywhere, but we need to make a determined effort to pull some time aside to spend with God. Come on. You can watch Netflix for days. Come on.

You can watch a two hour or three hour football game. You can watch a baseball game, which may go on for days. I don't know. Baseball is crazy, man.

It'll go on forever. But you can spend time doing so many different things. Some of you can just say it and look at the creation God's created, but you don't spend any time with the creator. Listen, you've got to understand, you've got to make a determined effort to spend time with God in his presence.

Come on. Enter his Gates with Thanksgiving. Consider his incredible kindness and celebrate how great and powerful God is. And you will experience his joy.

Yes, Lord Jesus. I got another one for you. You may not turn back flip over this, but this will help you. If you'll get this, this will help you.

Joy is the result of righteousness. Psalms 9711 says, light shines on the godly and joy on those whose parts are right. You know, if you don't get your heart right, it's hard to be happy. It's tough to be in sin and be happy.

It's tough to live a lifestyle that you know is opposite of what God has for you and have a smile on your face. Look, when you're living right, when you're doing right, when you're following him, look, it's good to have a smile on your face because he loves you because you have a relationship with you can have a smile on your face. Ecclesiastes 2, 26 says, give God gives wisdom, knowledge and joy to those who please him. You need to understand if you have unaddressed sins in your life, it will diminish your joy.

Come on, you got to address the sin. I know that what I'm doing right now, on this set right now, at On Your Heart is now. When I start talking about these type of things, people start pushing back, but I want you to understand something. You can't stay in sin and be fully happy.

You've got to separate yourself from a lifestyle of sin. God wants to give you His joy. On the other hand, when we are walking with God with a clear conscious, when we're walking right with Him, when we're not walking in conviction, I'm not talking about condemnation. I'm talking about conviction.

There's a difference. I may teach on that sometimes, but I want you to understand when you're not walking, you know, when you're under conviction and you've got a clear conscience, you know, you know, if we put it up on the screen right now, everything you've been doing right, you'd have more things on the right side than you did on the wrong side. You've been moving in life. You can have some real joy.

Joy's found. Come on. Number 4, Joy is found in the lighting in God's Word. Psalms 119, 111, your statutes are my heritage forever.

Come on. They are the joy of my heart. Come on. I like the way the message says it.

It said, I inherited your book on living. I came up with a laugh, man. God, some people wish they had a rich old aunt or uncle that would leave them something, a huge inheritance. Honestly, the best, the best that kind of inheritance can bring is temporary.

It's so true. You know, if somebody left me a million dollars a day, it'd be gone. I'm just going to tell you. I got a lot of vision.

I got a lot of stuff I won't see done. It wouldn't be long. You know how a lot of people say they went a lot of this in a few years. The money's gone.

Why? Because you know, you just use it. You just spend it. That's enough.

It may not be spent wisely, but I'm going to taste it. If I had a million dollars, it wouldn't take me long to use it. Because I would invest it in the kingdom and I would invest it in peace, so I can promise you that. It wouldn't take long to be gone.

And it would be temporarily. It would be here, but it would be vanishing. Even using it for God's kingdom, it's still not lasting. Not lasting on this earth.

Now we could be storing up stuff in heaven. I hear that too. But here on this earth, it's going to pass away. Temporary, temporary happiness.

But the Bible is inheritance from the Lord. It's better than gold. Diamonds are rubies. It's been passed down to you.

And when we see the Bible as treasure, we have inherited it. Inverably, that mindset will lead you to joy. Come on. Joy is a result of speaking with wisdom.

Proverbs 1523. To make an apt answer is a joy to a man. And a word in season. How good it is.

Have you ever experienced a time when you were involved in a conversation? And suddenly you realize that God has given you wisdom to speak. And there's no other explanation other than God was speaking through you. God's desire is that every one of us who walks with him would speak life giving words to the people around us.

When our words are filled with wisdom, it produces joy. Come on. When your words are filled with wisdom, it produces joy. Come on.

Joy is found in answered prayer. Yes it is. John 1624. Until now, you've asked nothing in my name asking you will receive.

Listen, that your joy may be full. Answered prayer brings joy. But you can't have answered prayer if you don't pray. Come on now.

That's right. Some of you are like, man, I don't know why things are not happening. I don't know why I'm not. You're not spending any time in prayer.

We got to get back on our knees. We got to spend some time with God. We got to have some conversation. We got to begin to pray.

If you don't put your faith out there, if you don't pray, if you don't open up your heart to spend time with him, how can he answer something and give you joy and ask? You have not cause you ask not. Come on church. It's time for us to start asking.

It's produced by the Holy Spirit. I already gave you that one. Number nine, joy feels, I already gave you a number. Hey, joy is produced by the Holy Spirit.

I'm not going to go over that again. It's a fruit. Come on, joy is a fruit. Now look, you got to get this in your spirit.

Just hear me. The Holy Spirit has joy. So you need to cultivate that relationship. Joy is not found outside of you externally.

If it is found, it will be happiness. It will be temporary. It will be fleeting. It will be momentary.

But if you find real joy, lasting joy, you're going to find it from the Holy Spirit. Real peace, real joy, real happiness comes from the fruit of the Spirit. Number nine, joy feels our hearts. As we remember the good things, God has done through the people.

He has placed in our lives. Philippians 1, 3-3-5. I just refuse to focus on the unkind words and hearts that have come to you from other people. Don't do it.

I thank my God every time I thank of you. And every time I pray for you all, I pray with joy. Amen. Come on.

Because of the way in which you've helped me in the work of the gospel from the first day until now. I've been talking on our program over and over and over and over about the importance of surrounding yourself with people who are connected to you, who are not toxic, who are blessing your life, who are encouraging you, who are edifying you, who are strengthening you, they're doing nothing but bringing blessing to your life. How important is that? Here it is in Philippians again.

He said, I thank God every time that I think of you, I pray with joy because of you. And you should have some people in your life right now that bring a smile to your face. If you're surrounded by people who are depressed, who are discouraging, who are despondent, get away from toxic people. I'm not saying you've got to be mean.

I'm not saying you've got to be hateful. I'm just saying, get around some folks. Got a smile on their face, man. Because look, it rubs off on you.

Let people get around you that are happy. Let people be around you and have some joy. It's good for you. Yes.

Number 10, the last one, joy comes when we trust the Lord. Psalms 40 verse 4, oh, the joy of those who trust in the Lord. Yes. I tell you what, once you realize that you can trust him and that he's a good, good father, you can wake up in any situation.

They took Daniel, they put him in the lines then. They shut the door, they walked him in, they closed the door. He said, this looks like a good place to get some rest. He laid his hand down in the shaggy mane of the line and he said, I tell you what, y'all bring me breakfast in the morning.

I'm going to be good here. Don't you worry about me. He laid down and he rested in his situation because look, even though he was surrounded by a situation that should have destroyed him, he went in there knowing who he was. Come on.

He knew who he was. Come on. And he knew who he was. And they could not steal his joy because he trusted God.

That's right. Come on Pastor Farrah and I, we want to invite you today to put your trust in the Lord. Because when you do, your joy level is going to come up. Come on.
