Now so glad you're here with us. This is pastor Jeff Coleman from Marable Tennessee and we are excited to be with you today. You know one thing that's constant in our life that is continually happening is change. I can look at pictures from my grandmother.
I went to my grandmother's the other day. She gave me several books of pictures when I was just this big and even this big. If you could believe it or not I'm sitting here today but I was three and a half pounds when I was born I was just a little bitty and she's got picture after picture after picture and I look at that picture and I know it's me but boy I sure did look different and one thing you can say today there are changes happening all around us. As human beings we we actually resist change.
We we don't like change. Most people don't like change. We become tolerant to where we are and we resist change but one thing for sure change is inevitable. We all have to realize that we're going to change for the better or we're going to change for the worst and it really is just a matter of choice.
What are you going to choose today? Do you want your life to change? Why do we resist change? You know I don't know about you but I think sometimes we get so entrenched in our thoughts and our process is that we are actually resistant even if the idea or the concept sounds good and structurally looks like it might work we still resist change because religion, tradition, ideas or concepts are just the fact that we become complacent and we know that in order to change we're going to have to make some changes ourselves.
So the fundamental reasons that we change are we're creatures of habit. We we long stable environments. We like things to be the same. We fear the unknown.
Sometimes we're just afraid because we don't know what's going to happen next. We fear the unknown going into a dark room. Sometimes you know some people have a fear of going into a dark room. All of us matter of fact I don't care who you are really or how brave, big and bad that you might be if the room is completely dark and you're going into a room.
The fear of the unknown is sometimes hard to overcome. Just unknowingly or even just human emotion sometimes just stop us from changes. Changes come in our life like I was saying earlier those subtle changes just five years ago I can remember things didn't hurt in the morning like they do now sometimes when I wake up I can feel soreness or pain. I realize hey when I was a young man I didn't have that and then sometimes there's radical changes.
Well today I said all that to say this today I'm believing for a radical I'm talking about absolute radical change in your life today. I'm believing God to the Holy Spirit today will empower you and shift you and change you in a way that you've never been changed before. Never. I want to give you some ways that God can change you.
First of all Holy Spirit can bring gifts into your life. You need to be empowered the gifts of the Holy Spirit miracle working power healing deliverance. Come on. All these things these gifts can operate the fruit of the Spirit can begin to operate in your life.
We're talking about changing for the common good of our own life and family. There are different kinds of working but the same God works all of them and all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good according to 1 Corinthians 12 you can ask the Lord today ask the Lord today to cooperate with you to shift your heart to shift your patterns to move you into a new realm that you've never even been to before. The Holy Spirit is a power broker if you will.
Today you can receive power to shift you into another level that you don't have to deal with issues and pain and struggles like you have in past time but we become resistant. Today what I want to pray off you is your resistance. I want to pray for you that you'll step out into the unknown. I want to pray that you'll actually say you know what I want to go do say if you've ever been afraid to do something and then after you did it you were glad you were.
If you've ever been resistant to try something you've never tried before but after you did it you said wow I am so glad. Have you ever been to a restaurant? I don't know about you. I'm pretty big on keeping things the same way if I ever go somewhere and I eat there and I find something I really like.
It's like every time I go I just order the same thing. Maybe it's just me but I'll order the same thing over and over. I I don't know why we are set up that way. We are resistant to change.
You know God He gives us a plan to change our lives. I'm talking about the Holy Spirit wants to come into your life today and transform you to mold you to change you into not just a better person but to a son or daughter of God of the most high God that becomes empowered with the ability to change the world around them not to just gauge the temperature but to actually set the temperature of a room not to walk in and be overpowered by the enemy but actually to overcome the oppression and the demonic influence of the world around them not to be shrouded in darkness. No but to be a light God called us to be salt and light. He called us into that transition stage where we have that power to shift the circumstances around us.
God actually wants you to be an agent of change but it's going to take the Spirit of God to operate in you. Second Timothy 1 verse 7 says this God has not given us the Spirit of fear but a spirit of power. Come on somebody love and discipline. Wouldn't that be a new concept today for your life to have discipline that not only would you say yes to what God's will is for your life but you actually have the discipline.
One thing I know today the things that you do daily actually lead you into your future so I could look at your daily routine today and I can say you know what I can see where they're going. If you're constantly feeding negative thoughts if you're feeding off of maybe NBC, CBC, CNN, Fox whatever you're feeding off of social media, Facebook, YouTube, all these negative things are going on. Guess what? I can see that your daily routine is going to lead you into negative circumstances but if you feed off the word of God if you get in the face of God and you pray and you spend time at the altar and you worship him, you get some worship music going in your home and you begin to worship him.
If you wake up in the morning and before you go in there and you get your cup of coffee you say God I thank you because you're the breath. You're the life in my body. You gave me the power to get up today. We made it through another night.
Thank you for watching over me. Thank you for taking care of me. Now what are we going to do today? And you just begin to cooperate with God and you begin to go into the things that God has for your life.
Your life is going to change. The Holy Spirit not only wants to change you, he wants to give you solutions. Some of you are dealing with things today that you don't have the solution to. He is the solution giver.
His changes will cause Christ's kingdom and righteousness to grow. The Spirit doesn't quickly offer solution to problem until people are really ready to obey his directives. I was reading today. I can't remember who the, oh I do remember it was Mr.
Fannie. Charles Fannie used to minister the great awakening. He would be preaching and people would come to the altar and he would say go back. You need to go back and sit down.
You're not ready yet. And he would preach sometimes for weeks and never give an altar call because he would be giving that message and sending out that. He would say look until you're really ready to change there's no time for you to come to this altar and pray. Until you're really ready to obey his directives that's when we really need to understand now's the time.
We make commitments but we don't have the power to back it up. First Corinthians 12 8 says this. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit. Today I want you to ask the Lord to connect you by the Spirit's empowerment to people who are able to supply you with wisdom, knowledge and skill to accomplish the very best of God's purposes, plans and processes.
I truly believe today that everybody thinks of changing humanity but hardly anybody thinks about changing themselves. I want you today to understand if you want your family to get better, your life to get better, your job to get better, you're home to get better, we're going to have to change you first. After all you're the one setting there. You're the one in front of that camera today that's listening to me and you're saying what is he speaking to me and I know I need to change but I don't know how to change.
First of all that first thing you said I know I need to. That's powerful. So many people I speak to they'll say you know what someday I'm going to change or I know I need to change but I can't change. After all I'm just like my mother I'm just like my father.
Look let me tell you something God created you to be who you are. You are not your mother. You are not your father and God can empower you and the Holy Spirit can transform you not only where you're born by your mother and father but you can be reborn, rebaptized, filled with the Holy Ghost and also the Holy Spirit gives us the gift not only the gift that builds up and strengthens our spirit but the gift that leads us, the gift of the Holy Spirit, the prayer language, the heavenly prayer language praying in the Holy Ghost God wants to empower you to pray in that heavenly language. And the Bible says in Acts 19, when he laid his hands on them the Holy Spirit came upon them and they began speaking in tongues.
The one who speaks in tongues not only edifies himself but the one who prophesies, edifies the church. Look you got to know today you need strength. I don't know if you realize or not but pride will keep you from receiving everything the Holy Spirit has for you. The Holy Spirit changes what we say.
I believe today if we could get anything from the Holy Spirit it would be the ability to guard our lips to move away from the things that we say that are negative. You can be empowered today. I firmly believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is one of the greatest things that God ever left us on this planet. It comes with salvation.
It comes. The word sozo is completely whole. Nothing missing, nothing lacking and nothing broken. Oh, wouldn't that be a wonderful place to live?
Could you see yourself living in a place where nothing was missing, missing, missing, nothing was missing, nothing was lacking and nothing was broken. I want to tell you today it's your day. Things can shift for you today in such a way that your whole life can change forever. Today in Acts 2, 14, I want to turn there.
I want you to get this in your heart because this is what we're going to talk about at the very end of this program today. I've set you up to understand you need some help. You need the process of change. You need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
You're resistant to change. I've showed you that. I've told you the first part of this program you're resistant. You've shown, I show resistance.
Like I told you, I go to a restaurant, I get the same thing. Everybody knows when you pull up you order a number two. Come on, double cheese with bacon, hold the lettuce, come on, large fry, large sweet tea. They already know what you get.
Why? Because you're resistant to change. You don't want to try anything new. But the Holy Spirit changes us by infusing us.
Listen to me with strength and boldness. I want you to become bold today. I want you to make a decision. You know what?
Pastors right right here today on your harvest now I'm going to make the decision that I can be infused. I didn't have boldness when this program started. But you know what he said? Some things made me realize you know I need to change.
I need to shift what I'm doing. I'm resistant to it. I believe that I'm resistant. I know I'm resistant to change.
I love tradition. I love things to say the same. But today the Holy Spirit is going to infuse you right there where you are with boldness and power. Strength and boldness is coming to you right now in your living room.
Right now I would just reach my hands up and say I received that. Strength and boldness is coming to you right now. You didn't want to change. Now one thing I know for sure, God, God wants us to excel.
He wants us to improve. He wants things to get better in our life. He wants us to move forward. But we've got to be willing to step up.
You remember in the book of Acts the disciples were looking up and Jesus was ascending and the angel said, what are you standing here for? What are you standing here gazing at? This same Jesus that's leaving is going to come back. Now go do what I told you to do.
Go to Jerusalem. Go wait. Go to airy. Wait for the promise.
Do you be in dude with power from on high? He said, don't just stand here where you are. See we're resistant. But today the resistance walls are coming down.
Come on. You're going to step out. You're going to go get that new job. You're going to go put in that application.
You're going to go fill out that resume. You're never going to get that new job till you get up and you try. You're never going. Your life's never going to improve until you get up and you try.
You're going to be empowered, infused. It's not your might not your power, not by my sacrifice said, not by my, not by power, but by my spirit, sayeth the Lord, today's your day to be empowered with the Holy Spirit. Acts 3, 4, Peter along with John fixed his gaze on that man that day, that lame man, that man who had sat at the gate called beautiful since his birth. He was crippled.
He was born into a situation. I may be talking to somebody right now that was born into the situation that they're in. They don't see any way out. They've been on the side of that mountain, their whole life living in that trailer built on steel.
Come on. You don't on the wrong side of the track. You were in the ghetto. I don't know who all I'm talking to, but you were born over on the east side.
Come on, somebody. You were born in a bad place and a bad situation and you don't see how you're going to get out of it. But Peter and John looked at the guy who was lame, who didn't see a way out of his situation. He actually had surrounded himself with people that enabled him.
The Bible said that they carried him. In Acts chapter number three, they carried him every day and said him by the gate called beautiful. That process, they were resistant to change. His life, his livelihood and his life was set up on patterns, on patterns.
And we, we, we become resistant to change because we love patterns. And even though he couldn't walk, even though he couldn't get around, he was still complacent. He was okay where he was. It was okay.
They were eating. They were gathering money. He was getting fed and they were taking care of the situation. Come on.
They were just barely getting by. You know what? It's amazing how we really buy into the whole notion just getting by. We buy into the whole concept of just surviving.
God never called us just to survive. He called us to thrive and he called us to excel. He called us to greater. God's calling you today to greater.
He's calling you to greater. But Peter and John realized that they had something in their life that day to pull him up out of where he was. That's what I'm trying to do to you right now. I'm trying to help pull you up out of your situation, to pull you up out of where you are, to say to you, you know what?
This is just a, this is just a hand. This is just a how you got to do. Look, don't look at it as a handout. Look at it as a handout.
Don't look at it as just, you know, somebody trying to be above you. I'm not trying. I'm just trying to get you up your work. God wants you to be today's your day.
Call that number on your screen right now. Call that number on your screen right now. 931-210-4405 and let me pray for you. He looked at him and he said, look at us.
Look at us. Silver and gold have our number, such as I have, give by the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk. Today's your day. This is transition day for you.
And I pray that the barrier of resistance and complacency leaves you right now. Come on. This is your first step. You're going to reach down, get your phone, go to your, go to your, some people have, still have landlines.
Go to your landline, reach and get your phone right now. Pick up your phone right now and just say, you know what, Pastor? I need prayer. There's a prayer partner standing by right now to pray with you.
Look, that's the first barrier. You're pushing down that first. Look, you're just going to admit, you know what? I need to change.
This tradition. I've never called a prayer line before, but today I'm going to. I've never stood up. I've never asked anybody to pray for me, but today I'm going to.
I've been resistant. I've been in this cycle, this tradition, this religion, this thing, this pattern over and over and over again. But today I'm going to change. Father, I pray right now for every person listening to this program.
Everybody watching, however they're watching today, God, I pray that they will push the barrier of resistance down and they will get up and they will walk. Come on, don't be resistant right now. Receive, receive in the name of Jesus. Today's your miracle day.
