近年来，一些研究发现人类胎盘独特的、侵袭子宫壁的方式，与癌症的严重程度有关。一项发表于《自然》的新研究揭示，胎盘中的细胞具有大量的基因突变，十分类似于癌细胞。而胎盘是一个由多个“癌细胞”模块，拼接起来的器官。而在长达9个月的时间内，每一个胎儿时刻都在与它们为伴。
