Vor nicht ganz 60 Jahren wurde der neugotische Kirchenbau, der 1895 aus unverputzten Klinkerbacksteinen aufgeführt worden war, samt seinem 35 Meter hohen Turm von Grund auf renoviert. Es entstand "eine völlig neue Kirche im alten Mauer-Gewand."
