    Formed Out of the Clay

Beginning of a tour of the Old Testament Formed Out of the Clay Genesis 2:7-9 7 Then the Lord God formed a man[a] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. 8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. 9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam, Adama all made from the ground  Gen. 2-15-19 Gen. 2:21-24 It is beautiful. Ish, isha. Baptism

The focus of the early church's Sunday morning meeting was to meet, worship the Lord and to spend time together. Matt Ryniker — Hope Chapel (@HopeChapelATX) August 22, 2021 Our appeal in baptism is to the Father on the basis of what Jesus did. Our focus is on what Jesus did…..not on ourselves. [paraphrastic]Matt Ryniker — Hope Chapel (@HopeChapelATX) August 22, 2021 "Our appeal, and our only appeal, is on the basis of the person of Jesus and what He has done for us!"Matt Ryniker — Hope Chapel (@HopeChapelATX) August 22, 2021 Some of the scriptures from Matt Ryniker’s Baptism Sermon this morning, Ephesians 4:4-6 Romans 6:3-4 Romans 3:23.  All have sinned 1 John 1:8-9 Romans 6:6-11 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sinonce for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.   New to Hope? Matt’s Vision and Interview with Geno

1 Corinthians 11:23 23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? The Body of Christ: What is the Nature of Our Unity? Part 3 – Unity Under His Love

1 Corinthians 13:2-3 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[a] but do not have love, I gain nothing. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? The Body of Christ: What is the Nature of Our Unity? Part 2 – United Under Shared Authority

1 Corinthians 15:1-2 The Resurrection of Christ 15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, Mark 4:34 34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything. John 21:24-25 24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true. 25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. Acts 20:35 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” ______________________________________________ New to Hope? Ezekiel: Call and Commission

Ezekiel’s call and commision. We can learn from Ezekiel’s call. Disciple Making is the mission of the church.  We have the privilege of worshipping God.  We are invited to join Him in mission. Ezekiel 2:1–10 Ezekiel’s Call 2 And he said to me, c“Son of man,1 dstand on your feet, and I will speak with you.” 2 And as he spoke to me, ethe Spirit entered into me and fset me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. 3 And he said to me, “Son of man, I send you to the people of Israel, to gnations of rebels, who have rebelled against me. hThey and their fathers have transgressed against me to this very day. 4 The descendants also are iimpudent and stubborn: I send you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ 5 And jwhether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are ga rebellious house) kthey will know that a prophet has been among them. 6 And you, son of man, lbe not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, mthough briers and thorns are with you and you sit on nscorpions.2 Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. 7 And you shall speak my words to them, jwhether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house. 8 “But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. oBe not rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and peat what I give you.” 9 And when I looked, behold, qa hand was stretched out to me, and behold, ra scroll of a book was in it. 10 And he spread it before me. And it had writing son the front and on the back, and there were written on it words of lamentation and mourning and woe. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

In this section of Judges that we are going over today this statement is in there 2 times and then 3 times without the second part of the statement.  It is meant to taste bitter.  A kingless nation. Judges 17:9 And Micah said to him, “Where do you come from?” And he said to him, “I am a Levite of Bethlehem in Judah, and I am going to sojourn where I may find a place.” Judges 18:14 Then the five men who had gone to scout out the country of Laish said to their brothers, “Do you know that in these houses there are an ephod, household gods, a carved image, and a metal image? Now therefore consider what you will do.” Judges 3:9-10. Othniel  The Lord raised up a deliverer….. the spirit of the Lord was upon him… ______________________________________________ New to Hope? What is Christian Marriage?

What is Christian Marriage? Paul interjected a Christ filled view into the world.Ephesians.5:21-24 Submission is very specific here. There are 9 verses for the husband,3 verses for the wives. Ephesians 5:22-27 Husbands give up your life. Wives should submit freely on their own.  Wives should choose to submit.  Husbands can not demand it.Husbands make it hard for wives to submit.Submissions is a gift.Submission can not be earned.Only Christ can demand submission. It is always a gift to each other.  Submission is not deserved. This all is a great and joyful teaching.  It is precious. How did Christ love the church.  He gave his life.  Husbands should do the same. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? What About The Tithe?

Giving or Tithing There is a great deal of confusion around this subject. Matthew 23:23-24 23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 24 You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! It’s not about tithing.  We are not under the law.  It’s about the relationship.  Giving is just a part of the relationship. He loved you before you turned and said “yes” ______________________________________________ New to Hope? Earn All You Can. Save All You Can. Give All You Can.

Earn all you can. Save all you can. Give all you can.  Charles Wesley. Set up a budget and live by it. Simplicity: develops the spiritual discipline of simplicity. Lust of things is deadly to the spirit of God Mat. 6:31:33 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Reject anything that is producing an addiction in you Give stuff away. Learn to enjoy things without owning them. Getting rid of everything that doesn’t matter allows you to remember who you are Earn all you can. Save all you can. Give all you can. Giving is a joy.  We will be blessed and be able to bless others. By giving stuff away I can learn to trust God, who is the most generous. Applied atheism is working 7 days a week.  God is my resource.  Take a sabbath. Ask God what do give your money to.  He will help you. I want to bless my kids and grandkids. I want to be able to help my friends. I want to be able to help the poor. I want to be able to help Hope Chapel and Hope Missionaries. Without a vision people parish.  A vision for our funds. Give all you can.  Write a budget and stick by it. Randy Alcorn.   Cheerful giver. Renewal is at the Core of Christian Faith

Renewal is at the core of Christian Faith Embrace Great Hope. Ephesians 5:11-14 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. 13 But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, 14 for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper,     and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” ______________________________________________ New to Hope? The Servant Songs: Morning By Morning

Obedience marks the entrance point for intimacy with God. Isaiah 50:4-7 The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backward. I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting. But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? Isaiah 49:1-6 The Servant of the Lord 49 Listen to me, O coastlands,     and give attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb,     from the body of my mother he named my name. 2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword;     in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow;     in his quiver he hid me away. 3 And he said to me, “You are my servant,     Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”[a] 4 But I said, “I have labored in vain;     I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my right is with the Lord,     and my recompense with my God.” 5 And now the Lord says,     he who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him;     and that Israel might be gathered to him— for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord,     and my God has become my strength— 6 he says: “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant     to raise up the tribes of Jacob     and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations,     that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.” ______________________________________________ New to Hope? Isaiah Lived 750 BC – 680 BC – 8th Century BC The Servant Songs First century Christians quote Isaiah more than any other Old Testament text. The Lord‘s Chosen Servant 42 Behold my servant, whom I uphold,     my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him;     he will bring forth justice to the nations. 2 He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice,     or make it heard in the street; 3 a bruised reed he will not break,     and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;     he will faithfully bring forth justice. 4 He will not grow faint or be discouraged[a]     till he has established justice in the earth;     and the coastlands wait for his law. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? The Passover Origin Story: The Price of Freedom is costly

Our Freedom is Costly, Sudden, A Life-Long Pilgrimage Exodus 12:1-13 12 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. 3 Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household. 4 And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbor shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats, 6 and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight.[a] 7 “Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. 8 They shall eat the flesh that night, roasted on the fire; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted, its head with its legs and its inner parts. 10 And you shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn. 11 In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. 13 The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? Responsibilities in Suffering: 1 Peter-Part 3

1 Peter 4:12-19 12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory[b] and of God rests upon you. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”[c] 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. 1 Peter 5:1-14 5 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,[a] not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;[b] not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. Final Greetings 12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother as I regard him, I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it. 13 She who is at Babylon, who is likewise chosen, sends you greetings, and so does Mark, my son. 14 Greet one another with the kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ. __________________________________________ New to Hope? Enduring Suffering for Doing What is Good, Associating with Christ

1 Peter 2:18-20 18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 19 For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:13-17 13 Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil. __________________________________________ New to Hope? Born Again to a Living Hope: The Lord is Good Even in the Times of Trial

1 Peter 1:3-9 Born Again to a Living Hope 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:10-16 10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time[a] the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. Called to Be Holy 13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action,[b] and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:17-19 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 1 Peter 1:20-21 20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. 1 Peter 1:22-25 22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 24 for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, 25  but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you. 1 Peter 2:1-5 A Living Stone and a Holy People 2 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. 4 As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, 5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:6-10 6 For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” 7 So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”[a] 8 and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. __________________________________________ New to Hope? God Is The Same Yesterday Today and Tomorrow: Three Case Studies

October 4, 2020 God Is The Same Yesterday Today and Tomorrow: Three Case Studies God uniquely qualified to be the Judge of All.  There is no one more qualified.  Trust in God. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. James 2:12,13. 2 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. God desires mercy for us.  This does not mean there is no judgement. For God So Loved the World 16 “For God so loved the world,[a] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. __________________________________________ New to Hope? What will we do in eternity?

Sept. 27, 2020 Growing Cantaloupe in the New Earth?  Would Jesus plant Cantaloupe, raise a flock of sheep?  Artist? Engineers?  Geophysicists? Mathematicians? Musicians? What will we do in eternity? Genesis 1:28 Dominion 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Psalm 8:3-5 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,     the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him,     and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings[a]     and crowned him with glory and honor. Hebrews 2:5-8a 5 For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. 6 It has been testified somewhere, “What is man, that you are mindful of him,     or the son of man, that you care for him? 7 You made him for a little while lower than the angels;     you have crowned him with glory and honor,[a] 8     putting everything in subjection under his feet.” We will be moving from the Garden to the City.  Recreating culture post garden. Genesis 4:20-22 20 Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock. 21 His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe. 22 Zillah also bore Tubal-cain; he was the forger of all instruments of bronze and iron. The sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah. Revelation 5:9-10 9 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll     and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God     from every tribe and language and people and nation, 10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,     and they shall reign on the earth.” Will my dog be in heaven?  Geno’s Theory. Imprinting. Isaiah 11:1-9 There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,     and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. 2 And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,     the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,     the Spirit of counsel and might,     the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. 3 And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord. He shall not judge by what his eyes see,     or decide disputes by what his ears hear, 4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,     and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,     and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. 5 Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist,     and faithfulness the belt of his loins. 6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,     and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;     and a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall graze;     their young shall lie down together;     and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,     and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den. Romans 8:15b-17 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? New Heaven and New Earth: Will the Circle Be Unbroken? 3rd Talk on Heaven

Will the circle be unbroken? Doesn’t the Bible teach the earth’s fiery end? Is the promise of renewal real or just a word-picture? What will the new heavens and earth be like? What will it be like to abide eternally in God’s Presence? What will our relationship with Christ be in heave? 2 Peter 3:5-6 5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 2 Peter 3:7 7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? Genesis 3:8-9 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool[a] of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”[b] John 14:23 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Revelation 21:2-3.  (An echo of the garden) 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,[b] and God himself will be with them as their God.[c] Romans 8:22-23 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. Psalm 103:1-5 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? Imagine Heaven Part One: Top of Your Game, No Sickness, No Sin, No Suffering, Sharing Meals, A Resurrected Body

1 John 3:2 – 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears[a] we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. John 20:15-16 – 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?”Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic,[a]“Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). John 20:26 –  Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” John 20:29 –Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:27-8 – 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” 1 Corinthians 15:50 – I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. ______________________________________________ New to Hope? Titus 2: Teach Sound Doctrine. Be clear.  Christ is life for the broken world.

Teach Sound Doctrine (ESV) 1But as for you, teach what accords with sounda doctrine. 2Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 3Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. 6Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. 7Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. 9Bondservantsb are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, 10not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. We want to point to the exalted Christ.  He is highly exalted.  Because the Gospel is precious.  The message we bare is that important.  We proclaim Christ and he’s the one who saves people.  Jesus Christ is precious.  The grass fades and the flower withers but the Word of our God stands forever.  Be clear.  Christ is life for the broken world. __________________________________________ New to Hope? Christian Leadership: Instruct with Sound Doctrine, Rebuke False Teachers

Titus 1:10-16 10 For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially they of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. 12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle [i]gluttons. 13 This testimony is true. For which cause reprove them sharply, that they may be [j]sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Great Christian Leadership: Begin with The Who and Not The What

Great business leaders begin with The Who. Paul in Titus 1:5-9 tells Titus to set things in order and carefully choose the right people to lead the church. Titus 1:5-9 Qualifications for Elders 5 This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— 6 if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife,[a] and his children are believers[b] and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. 7 For an overseer,[c] as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, 8 but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. 9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound[d] doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. Titus: Faith, Knowledge, Hope Titus 1:1-3 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior; 1:4 To Titus:  my true child in a common faith. Pray, not for a meditative grounding exercise.  Pray because of the one we are praying to.  Pray to God because He is our Shepherd.  He hears us.  He is really the only one who knows how to still the anxieties of our hearts.  To give us grace in the midst of difficult living. Don’t Give Up Your Dream

Don’t Give Up Your Dream. Make sure you are doing the will of God. Provide for your family. Don’t ever give up on what God has told you to do. Haggai 2: 4-5. Work, for I am with you declares the Lord of hosts…My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not. Haggai 2:9  The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts.  And in this place I will give peace, declares the Lord of hosts. Zechariah. 9:9  Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!  Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!  Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
