A Transforming Word

Often in marriage, things can feel rocky, especially if one spouse hasn’t accepted Jesus Christ. And sometimes, instead of working on the marriage they have, some people may try to leave simply because it’s inconvenient to have a spouse who is a Christian, or who doesn’t want to accept the Lord. That’s why in today’s message, Pastor Bill reminds you that in your marriage, you’re called to be a witness. By following Christ faithfully in your relationship, you are ministering and leading your family.

We live in a world where, now more than ever, it’s hard to avoid lust. It’s in what we watch, what we listen to, and all over social media. If you really get how undeserved His kindness toward you is, you can't help but give it away freely. So, how are you treating others?

He was about to deliver one of the most powerful messages the world had ever heard. Today, Pastor Bill shares that although Jesus couldn't see every individual face, the crowds moved Him deeply — and that feeling became action. When you see the people around you, are you moved to compassionate action as the Spirit prods your heart?

Have you ever felt like God let you down? Maybe you prayed. You believed. You tried to do all the right things, but life still didn’t turn out the way you hoped. The diagnosis came anyway. The job never happened. The struggle didn’t go away. And in those moments, it’s easy for something to creep into our hearts, disappointment with God. Imagine trying to drive from LA to Chicago without ever knowing what road you’re on. Sounds impossible, right? Left to your own choices, you might end up in Rio de Janeiro! They learn to disassemble their gun, how to clean it, how to become comfortable wielding it, and how to aim it effectively. Today, Pastor Bill teaches that as a warrior for God’s kingdom, you’re to do the same. You’re to know your weapon, the Bible, which Paul calls a sword. Learn how it feels in your hand. Practice using it to cause damage only where you strike, and block blows heading your way. 

In The Lord of the Rings, at the Battle of Helm’s Deep, the elves and men held off the enemy orcs for a substantial amount of time. The fortress was made to be impenetrable. However, the defenses overlooked one weakness, and the orcs hit that weakness hard. In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches that when Satan knows your weaknesses, he will laser focus on them until your walls come crumbling down. It’s important that you identify those struggling areas and keep them fortified.

Ever since the dawn of time, people have rebelled. Adam and Eve rebelled against God, Colonial Americans tossed tea into the Boston Harbor, and a new store is boycotted every year. The moral of the story? Well… It’s in our nature. We naturally rebel against God and against other men. Today, Pastor Bill teaches that you can’t assume someone has been changed by Christ, and you should expect rebellion. However, that gives you all the more reason to demonstrate what a Christ follower looks like.

Could you imagine what it would be like if your boss decided to let you be in charge for the day? You’d have the power to run the company, and he’d listen to your orders. In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches that Jesus came down to a world He created, and listened to people bark orders at Him, while following rules set by men who couldn’t follow the rules set by God. Do you think you or your boss could do that? Jesus endured all of that and more because He loves you and wants you to follow His rule.

Have you ever seen someone make furniture out of old pallets? After salvaging the pieces of wood, they dismantle the pallets and then create something new from something old. However, it sometimes requires cutting off chipped edges or planing warped boards. Once it’s finally assembled, the carpenter will finish it off with a hefty sanding to remove all of the old ruggedness. In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches that sometimes, the Carpenter will have to do a little sanding in your life to remove the old junk.

No gardener plants tomato plants expecting an orange. No violinist puts the bow to the strings expecting the sound of a French horn. When you see two plus two, you don’t expect “five.” In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches that when you tell someone that you are a Christian, they shouldn’t expect to see the same you that they knew before Christ entered your life. They should expect to see a life that models Jesus. This requires bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit and living a life of repentance.

Whenever you walk into a barbershop, you’re expected to come just as you would any other day, hair fixed as it normally is. Whenever you are finished, you expect a change, right? You don’t walk in expecting to leave the chair the same way you sat down. In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches that in the same way, whenever you come to Jesus, you can come just as you are. There’s no need to clean yourself up first. However, don’t expect to stay scraggly! When coming to Jesus, anticipate change.

Have you ever obeyed God in something small, wondering if it even mattered? Today, Pastor Bill points to Joseph, who simply did what God told him without any promise of fame or grand explanation. He just obeyed step by step, and God used that faithfulness to accomplish huge things. You might want God to show you the big, impressive assignment first. But God says, “Just do what I tell you to do.” Your obedience in the ordinary moment may be the very thing that opens the door to what He has next.

Today, Pastor Bill explains Jesus’ promise in John 7:17: if anyone wills to do His will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or from human authority. Jesus makes it clear that those who truly desire to obey Him will receive clarity on doctrine. God guarantees understanding to the one whose heart is set on doing His will. The key to gaining that clarity is simple: obey quickly what the Lord tells you. Delayed obedience clouds hearing; prompt obedience opens up the lines.

Today, Pastor Bill encourages you that if your understanding of Christ doesn’t naturally move you to worship, slow down and get to know Him better. If who He is and what He has done for you leaves you unmoved, take more time. Worship should be the believer’s most natural response to truly seeing Jesus, His character, and His finished work on the cross. Spend time with Him in the Word, in prayer, and in quiet, undistracted reflection until your heart responds the way it was created to.

There comes a time in our lives when we have to decide where we want to be. Do we stay in this world and all it offers, or do we choose something more? Something that frees us from the weight and brokenness of sin? Someone who will lead us into everlasting life, where there is no sin or pain? Today, Pastor Bill reminds you that when you make Jesus the Lord of your life, He begins to break the chains that hold you down. Jesus sets you free and walks with you through every storm, now and forever.

Isn’t it amazing that we serve a God who desires a relationship with us? Our Creator didn’t make us just to forget us; He created us to know Him and to choose Him. God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins, and through Him, we’re given the choice to follow Him or the world. That’s what Easter is about: the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, who rose again and made a way for us to be with Him. So today, Pastor Bill encourages you to make that decision and invite Jesus into your life.

Have you ever done a book report on someone famous and felt like you knew everything about them? Today, Pastor Bill explains that knowing facts about a person is not the same as knowing the person. You have information, not a relationship. The same thing can happen with Jesus. You can study His life, memorize His words, and still have only knowledge of Him rather than a relationship. God wants more than facts in your head; He wants your heart surrendered to Him in real, living connection.

Today, Pastor Bill explains that God is not looking for religious people. Jesus was consistently annoyed by the religious crowd because they prioritized rigid rules over a genuine relationship with God. They valued outward performance and traditions, forgetting why the traditions were even there. They burdened people with heavy requirements while ignoring the heart. Jesus wanted authenticity, not a show. He desired real connection, humility, and compassion, not a checklist of religious behaviors.

Today, Pastor Bill explains that on the day of judgment, only one question will matter: what did you do with Jesus? Nothing else counts. You will either stand before God as a forgiven son or daughter who received Jesus, knowing you were a sinner and trusting His death to pay your penalty. You enter eternity welcomed as His own. Or you will stand before Him as someone who rejected His Son, who knew Jesus came and died but said, “I’ll get to that later.” There is no middle option; it’s all or nothing.

Today, Pastor Bill encourages you that when you're on the front end of a really difficult scenario or situation you never would have chosen for yourself. Keep going through it with the Lord. Stay faithful, stay close to Him, keep walking in obedience even when the pain feels pointless, and the path feels unfair. If you continue with Him through whatever it is, you will eventually reach a point where you look back and see that God was using it for His glory and for your benefit in ways you hadn’t seen.

Have you ever looked back at a season of deep pain and realized the fruit it produced was worth every hard step? They might not be random; they could be designed to bear awesome fruit that could not come any other way. Scripture cuts through that thinking completely. You have been forgiven by God through Christ, and because of that, you must forgive others. When somebody is going through a hard time, you don’t want to be the Christian who immediately assumes, “You must have some sin in your life. I knew something wasn’t right.” That kind of response treats suffering like superstition, as if every breakdown, delay, or trial is a direct divine smackdown for secret wrongdoing.

The world pushes you to climb higher, get served more, and stand out above everyone else. Today, Pastor Bill shows how Jesus models the opposite path: humility, servanthood, and lowliness. The world does not value these qualities at all. But God values it deeply. Jesus makes it clear: if you want to be great in His kingdom, you must serve. True greatness is not measured by how many people serve you, but by how many people you serve with a humble heart.

Good people can go through terrible things, and terrible people can have it really good. Not having an answer can be exactly why the Christian life is a walk of faith.
