In Genesis 8, Noah and his family finally come out of the ark after more than a year. And, Noah’s first recorded action is to build an altar. In Genesis 8, the floodwaters begin to recede — but not the way you might expect. God send saw wind instead of simply commanding the waters. The ark rests on a mountain before the waters are gone. In Genesis 7, God unleashes the floodwaters on the earth. And, there are some amazing details that frame this story a bit differently than most of us were taught. In Genesis 4, Cain kills his brother Abel and is exiled from Eden to be a fugitive and a wanderer. And, usually that’s all that most people know about Cain. But, Genesis 4 tells us more about Cain and his descendants. We’re told he builds a city, and his descendants are worse than he was. Today we're reading Genesis 3:14-19 where Adam and Eve receive the natural consequences for sin along with the serpent. When Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit, they become naked and ashamed. Then, God shows up, to gives the appropriate consequences to Adam, Eve and the serpent.
