We continue our journey through the wonderful Book of Acts here in chapter 17. Paul could proclaim the gospel because he knew the scriptures. Can you proclaim the gospel message because you know the scriptures? Do you examine your Bible daily?

In Acts 16, the Holy Spirit opened and closed doors to ministry for Paul and Silas. Do you need direction? Can you hear the Holy Spirit?

In Acts 15, leaders of the early church face arguments, disagreements, and dissension; however, they resolve their differences. Do you have biblical tools to solve arguments, disagreements, and dissension?

Today, we reach the halfway mark in the Book of Acts. Paul and Barnabas boldly preach the gospel, in spite of persecution. Have you ever suffered persecution for sharing the gospel?

In Acts 13, Paul and Barnabas are set apart to reach Gentiles, not just Jews. Have you been set apart? Who has God asked you to minister to?

In Acts 12, we see the Apostle James martyred and Peter spared. We also see prayer answered. Are you amazed when your prayers are answered?

In Acts 11, Peter reports about the conversion of “uncircumcised men”. In Antioch, disciples are first called Christians. Do you claim the label, Christian? If so, how well are you representing Jesus?

In Acts 10, Peter has a vision leading to the first conversion of a Gentile. Are you holding on to some old religious traditions or beliefs? Is there room in you for new revelation knowledge from God?

In Acts 9, we will be reintroduced to Saul, the guy who was ravishing and persecuting the church at the beginning of chapter 8. Something good is about to happen to Saul. Is something good about to happen to you?

Our journey through Acts brings us to chapter 8. We meet Philip, possibly the first missionary. He heard angels and the Holy Spirit, and he acted. Do you hear spiritual voices? Do you act?

We left Acts 6 with Stephen before the council and the last verse in chapter 6, “And gazing at him, all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel.” In Acts 7, Stephen begins his defense. Can you defend your faith?

In Acts 6, lay-people are assigned to assist pastors. One named Stephen, full of grace and power, is questioned for his good work. Are you full of grace and power? Is anybody questioning your good work for Jesus?

In Acts 5, Ananias and Sapphira hold back, but the apostles do not. Are you holding back or are you all in?

In Acts 4, Peter and John proclaim in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. They get dragged before the high priest to explain themselves. Do you boldly proclaim Jesus? Can you defend yourself when questioned about your faith?

In Acts 3, Peter and John are on their way to the temple. They meet a beggar and give him what they have. What do you have to offer someone in need?

Acts 2 is an exciting chapter about the day of Pentecost. Have you been filled with the Holy Spirit? If so, are you using your “tongue” to share your faith with others? If they ask you, “What shall we do?” Can you answer, can you lead them to saving faith in Jesus?

Luke’s intent in his gospel and in the Book of Acts was to create an accurate record of things people had seen concerning Jesus in their lifetime. Acts covers the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ, the arrival of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, the conversion of Saul to Paul, and the building of the church through persecution and hardship to far-flung places like Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Today brings us to the final chapter of the Gospel of Luke. The resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Do you believe in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead? If so, how does your belief impact your behavior?

Luke 23 contains the trials of Jesus, the crucifixion of Jesus, the death of Jesus, and the burial of Jesus. Have you personalized the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus? He did not just die for the sin of the whole world, He died for you and your personal sin.

Luke 22 is one of the great chapters of scripture: the betrayal of Jesus by Judas, the institution of the Lord’s Supper, the denial of Jesus by Peter, all as we move toward the cross. When tested will you be found sleeping, or standing for Jesus?

In Luke 21, Jesus speaks of wars and persecution, the destruction of Jerusalem, and the coming of the Son of Man. Have you been persecuted for your faith? Would you stand for Jesus if you were?

In Luke 20, Jesus is in Jerusalem and He is challenged by religious leaders. Do you know enough to challenge religious leaders today? Are they teaching the Bible? Do you know the Bible well enough to know?

In Luke 19, we will read about Zacchaeus, the parable of the talents, and the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Do you believe God blessed you with special talents and abilities? If so, are you using them for His glory?

In Luke 18, there are various lessons from Jesus our Savior. One is a blind beggar pleading to Jesus. Do you plead to Jesus? What do you want from Him?

In Luke 17, we will learn how to increase our faith and also about the coming of the kingdom. Do you think God created you with a purpose? Have you asked Him what that purpose may be? Are you fulfilling your purpose?

Luke 16 is about the parable of the dishonest manager, divorce and remarriage, and the rich man and Lazarus. Are you serving God or money? Are you faithful or are you shrewd?

Luke 15 contains the parable of a lost sheep, the lost coin, and the parable of the prodigal son. Have you been the prodigal son or the older son, staying the course of your faith? Is Jesus fair to both?

Luke 14 contains the parable of a marriage feast and a parable of the great banquet. Is there a cost to follow Jesus? Are you willing to pay the price and follow Him?

In Luke 13, we will read about a fig tree and a narrow gate. Jesus expected the fig tree to bear fruit. Do you think He expects you to bear fruit?

Has God blessed you with much or little? To whom much is given, much is required. Are you using that which God has given you for Him?

In Luke 11, we will hear about the Lord’s Prayer, the sign of Jonah, and a few woes from Jesus to Pharisees and lawyers. How is your prayer life? Do you model your prayers after Jesus?

In Luke 10, we will see Jesus send out the seventy-two disciples and also look at the parable of the Good Samaritan. Have you ever caused Satan to fall like lightening?

Luke 9 is about Jesus sending out His apostles, feeding 5,000, the transfiguration, and the cost of following Jesus. Who is Jesus to you?

Luke 8 is the parable of the sower and various other healings by Jesus. He also calms the storm. When a sower sowed the Word in you, were you good ground? Have you yielded a hundredfold?

In Luke 7, we will see Jesus heal, forgive, and raise the dead. However, my three Bible reading journals all focused on whether Jesus drank. Do you think Jesus drank?

In Luke 6, we will cover the beatitudes and other aspects of the continuing ministry of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We will focus on prayer. How is your prayer life?

In Luke 5, the ministry of Jesus continues: He calls His first disciples, He cleanses a leper, and heals a paralytic. However, His disciples had a bad night. I have had bad nights too. When you have a bad night, where do you turn?

Luke 4 covers the temptation of Jesus and the beginning of His ministry. When tempted, how do you fight back? Is Jesus your example?

In Luke 3, John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus, and we will look at Jesus’ genealogy. The Father and the Holy Spirit show up at the baptism of Jesus. Do you believe in the Trinity?

Luke 2 is the Christmas story: the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Can you refer someone to the real Christmas story in the Bible? Do you believe in the miracle birth of Jesus?

In Luke 1, Dr. Luke describes the birth of John and the coming birth of Jesus. Both births are orchestrated by God and announced by Gabriel, the angel.

Today, we conclude the Gospel of Matthew. Up from the grave, He arose. Do you believe in the resurrection of Jesus?

Matthew 27 is the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Have you ever wondered what happened to Judas? Is he in heaven?

In Matthew 26, we come down to the final few days in the life of Jesus, the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, His arrest, and fake trial. Under pressure, Peter denies Jesus. How will you do under pressure?

In Matthew 25, there are several key themes: be ready for the second coming of Jesus, there is going to be a separation, and all are not going to heaven. Are you ready for the second coming? Are you on your way to heaven?

In Matthew 24, the disciples ask Jesus when the end of the age will come. Jesus answers them and tells us what the world will be like at the end of the age. He says He is coming again. Do you believe Him?

In Matthew 22, the religious leaders of His day, Pharisees and Sadducees, question Jesus. Do you have questions for Jesus?

Matthew 21 is the beginning of Passion Week, the final week of Jesus’ life, the triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The chapter finishes with a question from Jesus, “Have you never read in the Scriptures” (v. 42). If He asks you, what will your answer be?
