al-Majlis with Musa Adnan

Alhamdulillah, it is a pleasure for me to finally publish one of the most anticipated episodes of Al-Majlis. In this episode, we were joined by Mufti Muadh Chati, a widely respected scholar of the Hanafī Madhab. Mufti Muadh is a teacher at Dar al Ulum Blackburn & an author of various works, including his soon to be published ‘Introduction to the Hanafī Madhab’.   This episode is packed with benefits pertaining to history, Hanafī legal theory & much more. We did not shy away from addressing some of the widely discussed themes of contention related to the Hanafī Madhab.   As with all the other Madhab-related podcasts, the process of researching and executing this episode benefited me immensely, allowing me to expand my understanding of this illustrious school of thought.   May Allah accept this from us and make it of benefit - Musa

The Maliki Madhab is one of the four prolific schools of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence). This episode is part of our mini-series on al-Majlis covering brief, yet detailed introductions to the four major schools of Islamic jurisprudence. I sat down with a good friend of mine, Sh. Jihad Abu Sophia, to discuss the history, evolution, Usul (foundations) & other important elements of this significant school of thought. I particularly enjoyed the research process for this podcast as it provided me with a new-found appreciation for Imam Malik and his school. We began with the concept of following a Madhab in a more general sense before moving on to unpacking the Hanbali Madhab.    This podcast will be very beneficial for anyone who is interested in the Madhab, including those that are currently adherents to it or those that intend to study it. We discussed it's founder, Imam Ahmad, the Madhab's history, it's Usul and much more.   This is the first episode of the Madhab series on al-Majlis. In this series, we will be exploring each of the four Madhahib with qualified representatives of them respectively. - Musa

In this episode of al-Majlis I was spontaneously joined by my good friend John Fontain. After having reverted to Islam many years ago, John has since become a passionate caller to Islam. In this episode we discussed a recent trip that John completed where he travelled throughout Europe & the Balkans for the purpose of Dawah. This conversation reminded me of my own Dawah trips abroad... Amazing times! - Musa

In this episode I had the pleasure of catching up with Paul Williams (Blogging Theology). We discussed his recent trip to Syria, his experiences seeing the new leadership in action & other light observations. We also took some time to discuss Ibn Taymiyyah (I know, I had to do it :)) and Paul's opinions on the great scholar. Lastly, we ended off the podcast by discussing the potential future of the UK for Muslims with the rise in far-right propaganda. - Musa. 

Sharmarke Dhaqane, a close friend of mine, joins me in the Majlis to discuss our experiences together in Japan. Sharmarke, also known as Sharky Sensei, is a co-founder of Sakura Salam, a travel company which takes Muslims on halal-friendly tours to Japan. Aside from discussing our experiences, we also shared some useful information regarding Japan and it's people for Muslims who are interested in visiting the country. The wait is over! The world of social media can feel quite overwhelming, especially for a Muslim that finds themselves exposed to differing views and controversial issues. In these situations; when a Muslim comes across something that confuses them on social media, what should they do? Who should they turn to? - This episode provides practical solutions to these real challenges. Aside from discussing these pressing topics, I also asked Sh. AT to share some principles that he has picked up along his journey. We discussed our views on social media, Dawah, the responsibilty of Du'at & much more. - Musa

In this episode, I was joined by Ufuk & Anwar; two of the co-founders of the popular tourism website Halal Booking. I asked them questions related to the Muslim-friendly travel market. We also discussed various emerging options for Muslim tourists and shared some memorable experiences from our travels to different countries as Muslim tourists :) - Musa 

Sh. Sajid Ahmed Umar is someone I have the pleasure of referring to as a friend and consultant. Academically, he specialises in Islamic law, and he is one of the most qualified scholars that we have access to in the UK.
